Do you have an ice-maker? Then you have the 'core' for a new PD therapy!

I was watching this video... She's one of my favs on YouTube .....

Dr Rhondra Patrick, Phd

Do you have an ice-maker?

I had my first 'ice bath' last week....

BRRRRRRRRRR .... but felt GREAT!

But it takes about a week for my ice maker to make enough ice for my bathtub...

So I really shopped around and researched a whole bunch of commercial ice-makers ....

These things can go for thousands (ouch) ....

But I found a bargain!

I plan on buying this one from Amazon...

At less than $400 it makes 100 pounds of ice a day!

And it 'holds' 48 pounds... plenty enough for an ice bath!

Learn how 'COLD' therapy (approx. 8 minute mark)

*stimulates blood flow throughout the body and BRAIN

*increases energy expenditure (fat loss)

*induces mitochondrial biogenis (more brain cells!)

*induces a norepinepherine reponse which may benefit brain health

MORE on my post above:

"A study in healthy young men investigated the effects of hormone release after hour-long immersion sessions in water temperatures of approximately 90°F (32°C), 68°F (20°C), and 57°F (14°C), with one week separating each exposure. Whereas water immersion at warmer temperatures (90°F [32°C)]) and (68°F [20°C]) did not activate norepinephrine release, immersion at a colder temperature (57°F [14°C]) increased norepinephrine by 530 percent, dopamine by 250 percent, and energy expenditure by 350 percent, compared to pre-immersion levels"

Hi PDW. I have not gone as far as buying an ice making machine but I have bought a book from Win Hof who advocates cold therapy and have been taking cold showers every day for a month. Not surprisingly, it is very stimulating but also slightly addictive…. I have not seen any PD specific benefits to this but I think this is a healthy practice in general.

I started cold showers ten months ago working up to three minutes. I believed it strengthened my immune system. A month ago I stopped, I think because I couldn’t pinpoint any benefits. This week I caught Covid. I’m sure it’s just coincidental! I plan to return to them when I feel up to it.

Hi PDW,

I also have been taking 8 minute cold showers for a month and win hòf does give a compelling case for cold water therapy.

I think I'll also invest in an ice making machine after watching your posted video.

Thanks for sharing.

Just curious. Are you still doing the cold showers? Still working? Any other observations? Thanks!
