Does anyone have any experience with the Açai berry?

I weigh 75kg x 500mg equals 37.5 grams/daily. That's a lot...

I think I'll test a small amount first.

"These findings “demonstrated for the first time that Açai berry supplementation at the dose of 500 mg/kg was useful to counteract the neuroinflammatory and oxidative events characteristic of the [Parkinson’s disease], limiting neuronal death and improving physiological antioxidant defense,” the researchers wrote."

So... I think converting from mice to men is divide by 12. So 500 mg/kg becomes 42 mg/kg. Times 70 kg for me = 3 grams a day.

My wife gave me one of these once. Cleaned me out real good.

Beat me to it on the dosage correction :-)

They applied the açai berry starting the day after the toxicant. I wish they had waited longer, but nonetheless this counts as a valid post toxicant study.

Great find, PD Tom!

I have enjoyed acai berries from time to time without digestive upset. Definitely fits with the bear nut and berry diet :-)

I think this is the full study: Açai Berry Mitigates Parkinson’s Disease Progression Showing Dopaminergic Neuroprotection via Nrf2-HO1 Pathways 2022 link.springer.com/article/1...

This is a great find PD Tom!

At 70 kg = 3 grams, I'll take that tomorrow. Thank you Bolt_Upright!I'm curious if it works. I have very few symptoms and my condition is very stable.

I have been drug free since diagnosis in December 2020.

I'm sure my actions are working. I don't want to sell anyone anything here.

I just want to share my discoveries - see parkinsonclub.de because I think it helps.

I've made a lot of contacts and let my feelings guide me more because I don't have the specialist knowledge.

But I've had a lot of success in business, betting on the right horse.

Hello Bolt_Upright,

yes I am very active and also invest a lot of money.

I have been taking weekly measurements for over a year, where the course of the disease is documented.

Diagnosis December 2020 - I don't take any medication!

The last few months have been very stable and a lot has already improved in relation to the beginning of the diagnosis (the months were very difficult for me and the disease progressed noticeably).

I was in Africa/Kenya for the last two weeks (beach holiday and safari).

On vacation I already noticed that my left hand was getting a little better and I could spread my toes further apart on the left foot - before that and already at the beginning of the diagnosis this was difficult - but it got better over time.

This morning I did my speed test and lo and behold!

The values had gotten better.

The values have fluctuated over the past many months - but they have never been this good.

What have I changed?

I gave up the daily 2 grams of B1 on vacation and instead took 3 grams of Acai Berry and 2 tablets of sulforaphane - see picture. Also here when writing with the keyboard I notice that the left hand is more fluid!

I will of course keep an eye on it and let you know what happens next.

Next week I'll be in Slovakia for two weeks and I'll do another microbiome transfer .... there's also a lot on my homepage (also in English) ... parkinsonclub.de

Greetings from Germany

Tom

Is this a supplement or the actual berry? If supplement, what brand?

It doesn't appear to be very specific if this a in pure berry form (fresh, frozen or capsules? ) or is it in extract form? If what they are using is an extract, then concentrations can be highly variable. This is important to know, considering the possibility of consuming too much or too little. Any way we can figure this out before experimenting, as this product is easy to incorporate into our diet?

Really easy, you can find some dried acai that's easy to put into a smoothie or e.g. I put it into my oats. Am doing 3gr in the morning with oats, 3gr in the evening simply with water (doesn't really disolve, so not the most enjoyable experience). Added it a week ago to my stack, only early observation is that it changes the color of the stool to a darker tone. I read somewhere that the availability of acai is quite high in the gut, where it might have modulating effects.

To me, it still isn't clear what the optimum dose is. Fresh, frozen, dried and extract all have way different concentrations and properties. Better to find out and follow the same procedures, amounts and form that the acai berries were used in the animal research.

I have been taking the acai berries for a few weeks now (3 grams). Initially there were improvements and I thought it was because of the berries. But I have to confess that I seem to have been kidding myself. Here is my evaluation of my measures. I have been medication-free since the diagnosis in December 2020!

I probably know now why my values got better for a short time!

It was the safari tour in Africa - there I was shaken in the jeep for about 5 days. I already noticed there that the symptoms were getting better and then I did my weekly tests - and I had partly top values.

A few days ago I read the following article:

The cornerstone of vibration training was the observation that Parkinson's patients used to move better after a train ride (which was much more uncomfortable than today). It was found that the irregular jerking and rocking movements trained both the muscles themselves and the interaction between muscles and brain.

Special vibration devices are now on the market. The patient stands on a platform (e.g. Galileo, Body Cult, Power Plate) that generates irregular movement patterns similar to those of a train ride and can thus alleviate the symptoms of Parkinson's disease. Vibration training is offered by specialised physiotherapy and medical practices and Parkinson's clinics. There are also devices for home use. However, if you have a medical history, you should never exercise without consulting your GP.

Show healthy nerve strength: Training for neurological diseases

Improving the basic tension (tone) of the muscles

Improving balance and coordination

Stimulation of metabolic activity and release of important messenger substances

The high number of repetitions during training on a vibration plate has a lasting effect on the neuromuscular system. The muscle contractions provoked by the side-alternating training occur on the one hand without nervous activity in the muscle itself, and on the other hand reflexively at the spinal cord level.

I bought the "Sportstech VP500 vibration plate" today, let's see if the training is noticeable! I will report again.

If anyone has also had experiences - please report back...

The photo above appears to be acai powder. Is that as effective as the actual fruit, or even the acai puree?
