Mannitol and dizziness?

Turnipbarrow profile image

My hwp has been taking mannitol for over a year. I recently increased from 1 tsp to a healing tsp. Recently he has been experiencing dizziness. Today he wasn’t dizzy ,then had the mannitol ( takes with his mucuna and lemon juice). Shortly after was dizzy. I’m now wondering if it’s too much mannitol!

Does anyone have any experience with this or knowledge if this could be the issue?

Thanks so much!

Mannitol is a diuretic, I had to discontinue it because it made my blood pressure drop and increased my dizziness.

By your own account, yes that would be the issue and you should cut back to the prior dosage.

Both Mannitol and macuna oontribute to lowering my bp and cause lightheadedness . I am very careful with timing.

Could it actually be the mucuna not the mannitol? New batch at different strength?

It may be an increased absorption of levodopa in mucuna, even caused by increased mannitol or better gut status. When too much (overdosed ) blood pressure drops, balance and reflexes decreases, voice gets weaker and On lasts longer

Ever tried to eat it with food?

For examples i do a “carbs mix” with oats flakes, chopped cocco , 2 teasp. of raw cacao powder, milk of rise and milk of goat and 2teasp. of mannitol. Some times I add wheat bran grano … (to be continued 😊)

I would check your husband's blood pressure . Also check it while he's sitting and then while he is standing. Show the results to your mds

Agree. And poster should invest in a blood pressure cuff if she does not already have one

My husband takes his mannitol after his lunch with coffee (iced in his case). That’s what was suggested in the initial research. After starting mannitol, his low blood pressure improved, very rarely going below 100/.
