Levodopa storage

A rather dry topic but where do people store their medication in hot weather? Apparently Madopar should not be stored above 26 deg c, (79f), Sinemet- some sources say keep below 25c. As the needle now edges 30 c in the UK, and anytime on holiday in the Mediterranean or Caribbean, not easy without AC. Does it matter? Can it be put in the fridge? Anyone know? Anyway, a reminder not to leave meds in the car!

Sorry, I don’t have any advice to give. My husband, PWP only used Levodopa for a few months in the beginning of his diagnosis. Takes Mirapex now. I do keep his meds in a cabinet next to the sink. So far so good. It’s hot here in Georgia but have t had trouble with the meds getting hot. Maybe someone else can be of more help. Good wishes to you.

Great question! Perhaps a pharmacist could offer advice? I don't keep my meds in the bathroom cabinet because it can get warm & humid in the bathroom when showers are taken. We have AC but set at 76-77F so not real cool. My meds are typically kept in a kitchen cabinet a distance from the stove & electrical appliances, but when the kitchen heats up with the oven in use, I suppose that cabinet may get fairly warm also. I've not thought about keeping them refrigerated. I'll ask my neurology dept's pharmacist if no one else posts a knowledgeable response about this over the weekend.

I took a look at the literature which was uninformative. Levodopa itself is stable up to extremely high temperatures, but that does not speak to the overall result.

Storage means long term Storage, weeks or months. I have DOPA s without temperature recommendations and you should Not think to much about this problem,if the temperatures donot exxeed 50 orbit 60 degrees celsius. In summer you Can use a fridge, but the pills should not be wet. I havehad dopa pills in summer under about 80 degrees Celsius.i used these pills8 without problems. So the Storage of dopa pills is not a yery critical matter for the parkinson Patient.
