*** I ended up with High Blood Pressure taking TTFD. I no longer take TTFD. Based on my experience, I would not recommend TTFD. ***

Take a mood stabilizer it was meant to stabilize. I kind of like mania. But, if you take you might be able to take more TTFD. I don’t know. You might be able to take enough to not shake when you get excited, like Rainman pacing in a circle; Your prescription is for take one at night, take it. I want to be a good human guinea pig.

If you post, you will look like a WACKO and lose all credibility. I shouldn’t. If you do post, HU will delete and you will lose data again. But, if I do it will be as a new post and not part of my data. You are possessed by a Demon. I hope, if possessed, it is by God. Please, God, some guidance; You have never talked to me; Please, a gentle push in the right direction.

Decision Right or Wrong: Split a cap into half tonight, take a stabilizer tonight, and a half cap in the morning.

I wonder if allithiamine is as effective as TTFD? Thiamine tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide (TTFD) is the synthetic counterpart of allithiamine, occurring naturally in garlic.

I found this thread: neurotalk.org/parkinson-s-d...

allithiamine is another name for TTFD

Edit: Gcf51 is correct. Allithiamine and TTFD are the same thing.

I googled how much garlic it would take to get B1, I don’t recall how worded the search. The only thing that came up was a forum were someone asked, how much garlic to get 100mg of B1, someone answered, a ton and reference some nutrition site. I search the site for B1 and came up with no hits.

You were correct Gcf51. Allithiamine is the same thing as TTFD. I found this in an Amazon review:

"Hi all, taking allithiamine due to some recent bloodwork indicating low blood thiamine levels. I just wanted to leave a comment as I saw several reviews where people preferred this "natural" product over "synthetics" such as benfotiamine. I just wanted to set the record straight - this compound is NOT a naturally occurring compound that is extracted from garlic. I'm a biochemist, so I was interested in the history of this compound. The original research paper is titled "“ALLITHIAMINE”, A NEWLY FOUND DERIVATIVE OF VITAMIN B1", published in 1954 in The Journal of Biochemistry. I'll spare you all of the gory details, but it clearly describes allithiamine being a compound that is synthesized from mixing thiamine with concentrated garlic extract. From the paper: "Considering the fact that allithiamine has been formed from thiamine and extract of ground fresh garlic but not formed by the extract which is prepared from bulbs of garlic boiled prior to grinding..." Basically, there is an enzyme in garlic extract, allinase, that makes allithiamine when you add in thiamine in a reaction. It's very likely that allithiamine occurs naturally in garlic, but in extremely low amounts.

I just want to let those know who may be purchasing this (at a price premium) on the assumption that it is natural and extracted from garlic in some good wholesome process that has no synthetic chemical processing. I'm pretty sure in order to get economical amounts of allithiamine, they are using the same procedure as what was described in this 1954 paper, which is a reaction using chemicals and garlic extract, which contains the allinase enzyme required for the synthesis. This reaction goes through a number of additional chemical steps to get to a pure form. That being said, this does not affect the quality or potency of allithiamin in any way, and if the manufacturing is well managed, that's what matters. The vast majority of all supplements go through a similar process. Don't fall for this "natural" vs. "synthetic" product gimmick...it's all chemistry and marketing."

"Three cloves of garlic contain 0.02 milligrams of vitamin B-1, or slightly less than 2 percent of your daily recommended intake, according to the Linus Pauling Institute.'
