Great video Marc! No gluten, no sugar, fats are fine. Except I do have raw honey every day.

I've done gluten free for my thyroid. Was a wild search to find good gluten free bread. No success. Mostly, I buy gluten free flour and gluten free pasta. I consume less food during a meal when it's gluten free.

Sugar is so hard to omit from diet. By the way, Lyme Disease loves sugar. It's number ONE on the list of what to stop consuming.

Is honey a no no, Dave? We have raw honey daily also, that will be hard to give up. And what about medjool dates?

Uric acid: A KEY cause of weight gain, diabetes, heart disease & dementia (Dr. David Perlmutter)

Dr. Perlmutter has changed my life.

“His late father, Irwin Perlmutter, also worked in neurology, acting as the first chief of neurosurgery for Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami in the early 1950s. He spent the last few years of his life living in Naples before passing away in 2015 from complications linked to Alzheimer's disease.”

His passion for aging well stems from watching his father suffer with Alzheimer’s. He talked about it in a video interview.

Thanks Neuro.

I wish I could change my name. I feel ridiculous being called that. But thank you. I research neurology but I’m definitely no neuro. Sure wish I was!

Why can't you, but what's in a name, anyway? (You do good research. I like the name.)

Interesting that last year, Winnie the Pooh quite severely opposed Perlmutter when I posted about him and now, silence. He explained that his father thought Perlmutter was dishonest etc etc But for me personally his recommendations have changed my life drastically for the better

I have started consuming more sugary foods, fruit and potatoes and other starches (but not grains, except for millet) since I started taking C/L. So many of the foods that I used to enjoy contain proteins that interfere with the uptake of the medication. I feel like I have to eat something. I’ve lost weight that I can’t afford to lose simply due to avoiding proteins.

Uric acid is the link? Suppressing uric is the key? None of the blood panels I've had done over the past few years included uric acid. I guess nobody was thinking gout could be my problem.

I watched the video and saw something about quercetin being a treatment for elevated uric acid. But when going over it again I couldn't find the statement. Am I remembering it right? So on amazon a uric acid meter and strips is around $90. But quercetin plus vitamin C is around $20. Maybe try the meds first?

I spend a lot of my day on a treadmill. I'm trying to lose the 35 pounds I've put on since being diagnosed with PD three years ago. I have a fruit smoothie for breakfast and a normal meal for dinner. I always believed the fiber in the fruit kept blood sugar under control. But now I'm wondering if uric acid is the reason.

I guess I'll add Perlmutter's book to the stack of books waiting to be read.

I am having a blood draw tomorrow an asked explicitly that uric acid (and homocysteine) be included.
