Reducing Stress With Diaphragmatic Breathing - exhaling through a straw ?

Does anyone have advice on diaphragmatic breathing? I’m seeking out meditation and yoga practices and am starting at the very beginning of breathing correctly. As silly as this may be, I can not figure out diaphragmatic breathing. Does anyone else find this difficult? I think that maybe I’ve been such an anxious shallow breather for years that I don’t know how. I have a very small child like voice and always have. I would appreciate any experience or advice.

This overpriced plastic thing looks interesting. Could help with lung capacity. (Maybe useful for some HU PD friends with decreased lung capacity?).

CC,

You increase lung capacity with inflating a balloon several times a day. You can also do the same with kid's bubble soap. This is fun and you can play with your kids.

To increase strength or at least be more aware of my lack there of, I’m going to attempt a balloon. Thank you for the idea.

It was my husband's speech therapist who introduced us to balloons and bubble soap. :)

Hubby’s using this with his speech therapist. She also said there’s a tube you blow in and little balls that push up with air that we haven’t tried yet.

If someone learns Shambhavi Mahamudra from the Inner Engineering programme ، he/she will not need any of breathing techniques anymore. It’s a full package. I don’t understand why do people are so hesitant and resistant in trying such miraculous tools!

I’ve been listening to his interviews. He is amazing. This is what I’m presently listening to.

Thank you for referring him Kia!

Last night I tried a random short yoga nidra before bed. It was a good starting point I think.

Really odd timing. Found this rabbit hole to fall down a few days ago. Watched a few videos and then found the website. So the first online course is about $125 which is fine for enduring enlightenment! But I’m unclear if you can learn most of what you need from that seven instalment course - is it enough? Do you learn the Shambhavi Mahamudra online? Is the second course mandatory? Did you both both courses? Sorry for the questions.

The programme isn’t about enlightenment but a technology and method for well-being. However it’s a path and possibility towards spiritual growth.

There are scientific evidences supporting benefits of the inner engineering programme.

The Programme is divided in 2 parts ; 1st part is online videos to watch and the 2nd part of the programme is teaching Shambhavi Mahamudra. Both are online.

I’m definitely going to do this while wearing my red light helmet and blue blocker night glasses. The national anthem is an especially good idea.

I think this could be good for subtle vagus nerve stimulation since humming is.
