I found this reassuring: "As much as 40 per cent of the general population is affected by initial orthostatic hypotension."
"To stop or lessen the effects, Raj and the team of researchers suggest special leg motions when it comes time to leave your seat. By crossing your legs and tensing just after standing, which the researchers called “tense,” or by raising your knees up as if you were to rock yourself forward, which researchers dubbed a “preact,” the team saw reduced dizziness. "
Good stuff. Thanks for sharing.
I used to do this reflexively when I had this issue; kept me from face planting. I think it also helps to do weight training with free weights to improve stability and increase muscle mass - more mass makes the tensing work better.
I found that taking ubiquinol or MitoQ helped, as did chugging 500 mL water first thing in the morning for the pressor effect (people with severe OH need to be cautious, as they can experience huge spike in b.p. - so ask your dr about it 1st). The nurse at my urologist's office suggested it, said my dr. thinks it might be disease modifying. I think she is right and I continue to do it.
I don't have PD, dysautonomia symptoms from other cause.
I have very low BP as well. It’s scary at times. Do you think MitoQ is better than ubiquinol?
I thought magnesium would help but I must be wrong on that or I’m taking the wrong one.
Neighbors dogs ran at me the other night and I suddenly got so dizzy I couldn’t move with these dogs coming at me. It was petrifying.
