Ropinirole

Hi I am currently tacking 6 levadopa a day, my nurse has said I am under medicated she has suggested I take ropinirole, has anyone got any information good or bad about this drug thanks

Looking at tables of "Levodopa Equivalent Dose" shows 1 mg of ropinirole to have roughly the same total effect as 20 mg levodopa (taken with carbidopa). It also has a half-life of about 360 minutes, compared to about 90 minutes for C/L.

My understanding is that the carbidopa in CL is what gets the levadopa to your brain.

I’ve been on it since dx (well about a year in on reflection). It’s always done well for me even though many complain about obsessive behaviour. I had none of that although I do have a tendency to buy electric guitar effects pedals which I then hide from my wife. 😂🎸

I started on Ropinirole gradually increasing it until I reached 32mg then My doc added Cocareldopa 25mg later increased to 37.5. Been steady on that for a year. I am obsessive but nothing serious. Ropinirole has other side effects you should read up on. But I’ll take the benefits of it short term.

Be careful with compulsive behaviour which it now warns of in the packet. My husband had serious side affects with dopa agonist which had serious consequences for our life.
