First of all, i would like to write this update after i have been rechecked by the doctors in Switzerland , which was supposed to be in the beginning of January, but due to COVID restrictions, i wasn’t unable to fly. I’m hoping to fly during March, but it’s always unexpected.
After a year, i can say i was a bit disappointed, but maybe my expectations were to high, and i have the notion that our memory can be very tricky, and when we are felling better, we tend to forget the bad times. So, two days ago i went to review some vídeos i took to myself before the surgery, and wow, what a difference, i didn’t remember anymore that i was so bad.
I am a bit worse indeed, but on my untreated side. I feel that the symptoms on my treated side were solved and didn’t progress nothing, except from a very slight dystonia in my left hand fingers and foot. Tremor is virtually inexistent on that side, except from some very rare occasions, and only lasts a few seconds. On my untreated side, seems like that symptoms, who got better after surgery, are now progressing normally, so i have tremor and dystonia, especially when i am off C/L. And drag my leg, after lunch hour, braquidnesia and rigidity are also more noticeable. Also, some symptoms who are not “side related” are a bit worse, like rolling over in bed, urinary urgency, sexual drive, and the worst, i’m having again some kind of off times. But… still zero dyskinesia, back and neck pain completely gone, no drolling, no more excessive sweating, still working, still driving, renovating my house, still running 5-10 kms 3 times a week (two weeks ago i ran 40 kms during that week), my mood is quite good, and now i am really looking to get the other side done. I can say that i’m blessed and proud of my path, i even wrote a book about my story thats already going to publishing, and hoping that can help me to support the costs of another surgery, but more than that, to help others, giving hope and showing there is always another way. I think that if go trough the other side and it works so well as my treated side, i would fell like i was virtually no Parkinson’s symptoms.
