Hi all. Im a newbie. My mother was diagnosed with parkinsons approximately 10 yes prior to myself noticing symptoms. I first approached my doctor who was very dissmisive that i had symptoms. 4 yrs on he decided i was showing signs of pd and referred me to my now pd consultant. I was sent to Walton neuro about 2 months later and was immediately diagnosed with pd following a scan. My mothers consultant was the senior neurologist who diagnosed me aswell. He said that no connection was evident. Here i am having done 6 yes of voluntary work and setting up social pd group after a suggestion and help from my then specialist nurse . The group is still rubbing and has about 40 members

Welcome Ian1962, sorry you needed to join this group, but if you had to join a group this is a great one. Marc has been kind enough to host Zoom meetings on Sat (7 PM CST) and Sun 11 AM CST) to chat and share ideas and information. Reach out to MBAnderson if you would like to join us on the call(s).
Bydureon (a.k.a., Exenatide), a repurposed Type 2 Diabetes drug is now in third-stage trials in UK for stopping Parkinson’s in its tracks — results expected 2024. Testing — mice, open label, double blind — has been going on since 2010 and it has been positive every time.
Hi IanThere is no medication available that reverses the progression of Pd. That being the case, it would be better for you if you looked at other known ways of reversing the progression of Pd, so that instead of slowly getting worse, even if you do get temporary relief for shorter and shorter periods with medication, with the walking you are slowly getting better.
One of the proven ways to reverse your symptoms is to start doing Fast Walking. You would start at a very low level of walking, as fast as you can, for as little as 10 minutes or less, every second day and slowly working up to 1 hour every second day. That gives your muscles a chance to recover.
I did that back in 1994 and by 1998, at the age of 64, I was walking at less than 7 minutes per K and most of my more serious symptoms were a thing of the past.
I was not cured but I have not taken any Pd medication since 2002. I am now 87 and still walking. This method of high intensity exercise that is maintained for an hour has been scientifically proven to produce a molecule in your brain that repairs or replaces the damaged brain cells, which then gives you more levodopa and therefore, less symptoms.
For more information either Google John Pepper, Parkinson’s or look at my profile on this website.
Hi John, I noticed something you might be interested in the other day. It does not provide any details that I can find, but had an interesting line: "Interestingly, the researchers found that different types of activity had different clinical effects."

I think you are spot on with the fast walking. This article tempts me to think some type of cross training protocol with alternate exercises on non fast walking days might be of benefit.
Thank you for all you do!
My father was diagnosed 3 years after I was diagnosed. I have wondered about the house we moved into that turned my hair green. The copper pipes along with other heavy metals in the water and often an extreme chlorine smell in the water may have done something? We lived in the house for 7 years. In my grad (‘77) write-up they described me as the girl with the green hair. Way ahead of my time, haha? I wish you the best of luck. Cheers
