Hello! My father is 76 and was diagnosed with PD about 15 years ago. He is taking neurologist meds and am thankful to see his Dr. is holding back on increasing his c/l. He also takes 2 forms of Mucuna Pruiens. BUT HE NEEDS SOME FORM OF relief FROM HIS SYMPTOMS, SOMETIMES, both from PD and severe pain. Anyone here have experience with Delta-8 THC, the psychoactive (v/s CBD) substance found in the Marijuana plant? IT IS THE ONLY LEGALIZED FORM OF THC IN TN and my daughter, who is in the administrative health field, bought some gummies from the Autism Center's favorite high quality store, for my dad to try. I believe they are 25mg, but he will start by using only 1/4 or likely 1/2 of one of these, since our daughter has found out through the trusted store owner that taking it in less than 10mg will likely have no effect. My husband and I both took 1/2 of one gummy each yesterday evening (approx 12mg each) just to see what effect it had on each of us before giving it to Dad. We both described it as feeling a bit like we had taken "Tylenol with Codeine" prescribed in the past for things like Strep Throat or other pain. Neither of us have ever done any alcohol or illegal drugs before to compare to. We felt relaxed, a bit light-headed, heavy, slightly dizzy almost....but it was a good feeling. Made us both feel drowsy, so we were grateful that we took it just a few short hours before bedtime and had nothing to do. I had been HOPING it would make us feel more awake and alert, since my father tends to want to sleep all day (diagnosed about 15 yrs ago). We were also hoping any mild pains we were having would disappear, since Dad has SEVERE back injury pain which is inoperable. Also nerve pain in hips, leg, feet. He recently told me the pain is worse than the Parkinson's, which is saying an awful lot, seeing as how he often shakes on BOTH sides now and in his jaw, uncontrollably among many other symptoms. He has some better days, but lately more bad. AS FAR AS OUR EXPERIMENT LAST NIGHT WITH THE GUMMY, I WILL SAY I AWOKE FEELING BETTER TODAY WITH MORE ENERGY THAN I NORMALLY DO, SO WONDER IF IT HELPED ME SLEEP MORE DEEPLY. I am also concerned the Delta-8 THC may cause him to stumble worse than he already does. No injuries from a fall to date, praise the Lord! I BELIEVE IF HE WERE TO TAKE IT AN HOUR BEFORE BED, AND HAVE MY MOM HOLD ONTO HIM TO GET INTO BED, THERE WOULD BE NO REAL FEAR OF STUMBLING OR FALLING FROM THE THC. I realize I've been really word-y here, but if you have any input at all, I'd appreciate it. I hope someday soon, TN will give us many, many more options!!! God's Blessings, Sandra

Hi rsacdoolittle,Have you thought about about the infrared light coronet and Therapad. Can I suggest you email Doctor Catherine Hamilton at Wellred.com.au, telling her about your husband and asking about the coronet and Therapad. You need all the help you can get.
When the results of some research on these done here in Australia appeared in one of our newspapers, I wrote to her telling her my husband’s symptoms. I’m sure she would give you some advice if you did the same.
My husband’s neurologist said that the research was done by very highly thought of academics. He has patients who are using them with some good results. I use the Therapad on my back and more for injuries. I also use it on my gut, hoping to improve my digestive problems.
Coincidentally there was mention of further research being undertaken here in Australia on the TV news last night.
We have both items. We have only just started using them, as fate got in our way. My husband has just spent two months in hospital, diagnosed as Delirium. It was the scariest thing. Could have been caused by his Overactive Bladder, or the medication given for it….Or maybe his severe constipation, maybe vascular problems, or not enough fluid……Anyway, he’s home and well. He’s been using the Coronet for about 10 days. I will report on his condition in due course. It’s too early to say if it’s helping, but he’s certainly improving, particularly cognitively and his Parkinson’s mask is disappearing, so something is happening.
Keep us in the loop,
Gwendoline

Delta-8 THC creates more of an in-your-body sensation and physical relaxation. Like its more famous counterpart, delta-8 THC also has psychoactive properties, although proponents say the experience is generally more subdued and has gentler side effects than delta-9 THC. Many users testify that D8 helps them sleep, treat appetite loss, control seizures, relieve pain, enhance relaxation, and many other benefits. It is also a popular recreation because it delivers a euphoric high without inducing anxiety or paranoia.
