Does Benfotiamine penetrate into the brain or not? I see everybody says a different story. Some say it does. Others it doesnt and if doesn't, how come they say its helpful for Alzhiemers..

Well yes and no. Benfotiamine can collect in the adipose tissue to the point where it may become an overdose. And is what you can get from benfotiamine enough?
But if Benfotiamine is toxic, there are trials of 300 mg daily for over 2 years atleast if you search on Google ... Thats a long long time...

Benftiamine has "better" absorption by the body. Here's an idea (Dr Constantini's idea, not mine): Just take more B1.
I hate to say I think the real difference is you can't put a patent on B1.

50 mg Benfotiamine equals 250 mg Thiamine Hcl roughly. 600 mg Benfotiamine would equal 3g Thiamine Hcl. But Thiamine Hcl at these doses penetrates the brain whereas Benfotiamine does not as much,very little... Thiamine Hcl requires a protein transporter at low doses and at high doses, it is absorbed in the intestine and the brain via passive diffusion. Well I do not know if benfotiamine penetrates the brain, but the idea behind the benefit of thiamine hcl is that thiamine DOES cross the bb barrier, and that is where it does its good work after all and where the deficiency in PD exists. If all benfotiamine can do is work in the periphery, how does that help the basic disease except for peripheral deficiencies and tremors, and how would one achieve with benfotthiamine the dose effect of thiamine hcl needed without toxic reactions from the benfothiamine? And how could benfo achieve benefit in the amounts needed inside the brain, inside the substanta nigra?
No, I do not have a lot of faith in thinking about benfothiamine for PD...and I would have to challenge anyone thinking otherwise, including you, to offer proof, not simple rhetorical arguments of deductive logic rather than inductive logic. Argument is not proof. Proof supports argument, but argument is useless unless it is confirmed by proof. Basic. The need for proof supporting your argument is justified I think. I cannot say that I am an absolute expert, but I have been around the block a few times, and I also know when my leg is being pulled.
Also, the main thrust in research now for the disease itself has to do with addressing the misconformation effects upon beta amyloid. That's the main thrust of work in the cause/effects of the disease itself. What would any form of B1 have upon that core problem? B1 is for symptoms, not the disease.
According to Bettendorff and his studies on mice, no! In my opinion, yes, but to what extent I don't know. My experience with thiamine hcl has made me understand that to have *immediate* benefits in PD symptoms it takes a peak dose and it takes a minimum of 1000mg thiamine hcl of good quality, not old, in a single dose. Benfothiamines have different pharmacinetics, are more recent discoveries and appear to have some undesirable effects. (read review on Amazon or others)
When it comes to vitamins, studying and understanding pharmacinetics is important; the distribution in the body may not be uniform and there may be localized deficiencies especially in the presence of passive diffusion. Injections intramuscolar of thiamine Hcl are of more predictable outcome.
