One of the neuro docs says there's a connection between PD and melanoma. She referred me to a dermatologist. The nurse had me strip down to my undies then the derm doctor came in with a magnifying lens and checked everywhere including the bottom of my feet. She found one pre-cancerous lesion on my temple and sprayed it with liquid nitrogen.

Liquid nitrogen is so cold it induces frostbite. The dead tissue ultimately drops off. The healing tissue is white as chalk.

Then she biopsied four places on my back. All the while she's reading me the riot act about using sunscreen. I had told her that I lived in the Wyoming desert for 35 years. I ran outside daily at 8000ft altitude and never used sunscreen or a hat or a shirt.

She found the white scars where I'd burned off growths using my homemade nitrogen device. She seemed impressed that I'd been using liquid nitrogen for 35 years in my vet practice. I'd burned off skin growths in dogs, cats, pigs, and horses. I also used liquid nitrogen to brand mustangs.

I get the biopsy results in a week.

KP,

Sending good thoughts for good results. Catching something early enough is also a good result, so hang loose...

I have had melanoma removed from my forearm. The same arm had another mole near my bicep that was “highly suspicious “ basically on it’s way to being melanoma. My MDS discussed the correlation btw the two as well. I get a full body check every 3-4 months. Additionally, I have had 5-6 basal cancers removed and 2 squamous cancers. I get at least 1-3 spots frozen off every time I go to the dermatologist that are pre-cancerous. I was in the sun way too much as a youngster. Everyone needs to be checked regularly.
