Hi Roy can I ask why you take a ‘vacation’ from B1?
Some suggested saying benefits
Forgive me Roy, but isn't constipation supposed to be solid? The devil made me do it Roy, honest!!
Recent new members of our Facebook group encouraged it.I thought I’d try.

Roy my good friend , as your b1 levels decrease in your body while you take a break from it, and as it is apparent that your symptom of constipation is relieved, perhaps when you start your b1 again you might try half your usual dose. I decreased mine from 4000mg to 2000mg and now 1500mg per day (each decrease after a month off) and I am doing great there. Not sure of the science behind it . I also now take 200mg Magnesium, which makes a big difference when combined with the B1. I think I recall that you take mag too.

In a randomized controlled trial in depressed older adults, 450 mg of magnesium daily improved mood as effectively as an antidepressant drug.

Magnesium l-threonate (Magtein)
Magnesium is an essential nutrient for the body. Magnesium helps regulate muscle and nerve function, maintain blood pressure, and aid in bone health and formation. It has also been long appreciated that magnesium has a neuroprotective role. Magnesium l-threonate has the ability to cross the blood-brain barrier, and it was shown in a mouse model of PD that magnesium l-threonate was neu- roprotective and blocked further dopaminergic neuron loss.
Quote John Coleman:
“based on my clinical experience and training. Magnesium citrate is an excellent choice for those with brain injury or brain challenges. It is not quite as good as magnesium threonate, but is easier get.
I have used and prescribed magnesium citrate for over 20 years with no adverse events at all.
We should all be drinking at least 1.5 litres of water per day anyway.
Magnesium sulfate and chloride are more likely choices for bowel cleansing but citrate can help with constipation.
Bowel health can be helped with a combination of high-quality vitamin C powder (to "bowel tolerance") plus magnesium (citrate or threonate) water plus some "green" supplements and/or some fibre supplements like K-Fibre or similar.
Magnesium (citrate or threonate) is a must for anyone diagnosed with PD or a high-quality magnesium complex powder. Intake can be anything from 300 mg elemental magnesium to 1000 mg per day with no hassles.
Magnesium citrate can assist with stiffness, mobility, balance, heart health, cognition, chronic inflammation and, in some cases, tremor.”
A friend told me to get Magnesium Oxide for my PWP constipation. It was the only thing that helped him. She said everyone that she recommended it to had success. He takes 4 tablets if things get backed up and then will drop down to 2-3. It's pretty amazing!
