I wish I could be excited by this but even if it works it would be 15 years before it would hit the market. N its anti alpha syncleuin clumping drug. Its highly likely that stopping the clumping will have no effect on stopping parkinsons if we are to compare similar efforts in the alzheimer's world

Right - 15 years, plus, likelihood of actual approval for a preclinical drug that has not even made it to phase 1 is way less than 10 percent.

An accurate title for this particular PR would be "interesting Parkinson's treatment idea may merit further testing in animal models"

Bydureon (a.k.a., Exenatide), a repurposed Type 2 Diabetes drug is now in third-stage trials in UK for stopping Parkinson’s in its tracks — results expected 2023. Testing — mice, open label, double blind — has been going on since 2010 and it has been positive every time.

According to a very sensitive test, Homeostasis Model Assessment for Insulin Resistance (HOMA-IR), 2/3 of Parkinson’s patients are supposed to be insulin resistant. IR may be treated with Bydureon (Exanatide). Just an angle that might get us one step closer to getting Bydureon.

they are testing the exenatide in the US now too and the clinical trial I found required the person to be between 30 and 80 years of age, never have taken levodopa, and be considered early Parkinsons so even though my husband just got the diagnosis this week the neurologist does not consider him to be early Parkinsons so disappointed to find out he probably would not be able to participate in this study

How come? Does this mean that your husband had PD symptoms for many years before he first visited a neurologist for diagnosis?

initially he had symptoms that were more consistent with essential tremor - he saw a neurologist in 2017 but the neurologist was not sure if he had essential tremor or Parkinsons so he did not give a diagnosis. This neurologist retired in 2019. Recently we decided he should go to a neurologist but it took several months to get the appointment. This resulted in a diagnosis last week.
