I was going to post about GM-1 Ganglioside and then I saw zawy had an AWESOME post on this 6 years ago

And the best I can tell no progress has been made in the last 6 years with this treatment that seems to work. Here is zawy 's post:

Was PD cured in the 1980's? It's a GM-1 Ganglioside deficiency? healthunlocked.com/cure-par...

Oh! Please read all the comments. zawy has the most detailed and impressive stack I have seen to date. Much respect to you zawy!

I guess there have been updates. What is really odd is they did a successful human study in 2012 and now they are back to mice studies:

Parkinson’s disease recovery by GM1 oligosaccharide treatment in the B4galnt1+/− mouse model 2019 nature.com/articles/s41598-...

Ganglioside Metabolism and Parkinson's Disease 2018 frontiersin.org/articles/10...

This is very odd.

it isn't odd at all. 2 injections per day at a couple of thousand dollars? seriously? In addition, zero lag benefits! NONE. Went nowhere. Going nowhere.

(it is most likely about inefficient signalling by GDNF (a primary hypothesis) which leads to the over accumulation of a-syn. series-a gangliosides are a small part of this problem.)

"The hypothesis is introduced that following ganglioside treatment some lesioned DA nerve cells do not degenerate, but elongate their dendrites to give increased trophic support to DA cell bodies with intact DA axons. These increased dendro-dendritic interactions may enable the unlesioned DA cells to increase the density of their striatal nerve terminal networks via collateral sprouting leading to recovery of dopaminergic synaptic function as evidenced in the receptor autoradiographical and behavioural analysis. " Agnoti et al, 1983

Nice idea. Never proven after all this time (almost 40 years). research on GM-1 peaked in 1994.

(please do your best and try to use correct terms. it is GM-1, not GM1. the latter is a disease)

Thanks Sharon. Yes, 2 shots a day seemed extreme (my cousin with diabetes takes 3 shots a day though). $2000 a day? Ouch. What do you mean by "zero lag benefits"? I Googled and could not work that out.

And thanks for always shining a light of sanity and experience on these posts.
