Amantadine : Anyone taking this and how are... - Cure Parkinson's
Amantadine
There are a plethora of posts on amantadine if you search it.
Husband takes it twice a day to help with dyskinesia. Works for him. No issues so far.
We found it didn’t work for tremor or freezing. It was docs first line of treatment (weird). Then when mixed with Sinemet it caused hallucinations and delusions... not good... now off Amantadine on Sinemet and a plethora of supplements thanks to this forum that have helped tremendously (I’m a caregiver not a person with Pd) . Amantadine for dyskinesia is another matter, but It wasn’t the reason it was prescribed in this case. Hope that helps.
Been on it two years no issues that I am aware of
Taking Amantadine 1-3 times a day for 11 years, relives tremor with no side effects
My husband used it for awhile early in his disease. It caused edema of the lower legs and feet (swelling). It wasn’t really too bad so he stuck with it for years…it helped him move a bit better. He doesn’t have tremor or dyskinesia.
I take it twice a day and it helps with dyskinesia. I have some edema but who know if it comes from the amantadine or something else. Its worth trying.
I do not Tolerate C/:L well, so i dpn't take it. But I love the way the amantadine helps me/ The Neurologist said it might help with my drooling. It has not. But am awake and energized, bringing my life much closer to normal/
