Last week you all responded to my post about my husbands OH. He has increased his salt intake, using margarita mix and a salted rim, along with a little extra salt ingested. He couldn't stomach the salty water. His OH has improved alot, Thank you all for the suggestions. Now today he accidently took two of his Rytary 40/195 capsules and is having a wonderful day. His handwriting is back to normal, his tremor is almost gone, his gait and stability are improved. We had discussed increasing his meds this spring with his Neuro PA, but were reluctant due to his OH. With the increase of sodium intake(via the salt) and fluid intake improving things, what is the best way to increase his Rytary? A larger dosage at the prescribed 3 times a day or a smaller dose more frequently than 3 times a day?
Any comments are appreciated.

Orthostatic hypotension — also called postural hypotension — is a form of low blood pressure that happens when you stand up from sitting or lying down. Orthostatic hypotension can make you feel dizzy or lightheaded, and maybe even cause you to faint.
I'm very glad his BP has improved but instead of the clever idea of using margarita mix (tends to run high in sugar) for enticement, it might be even better to incorporate lots of soup (on the saltier side) in his diet instead. It is generally best to avoid excess sugar as much as possible.
Depending on the weather, might need cold soup this time of year. But we don't know if he likes soup. Soup doesn't appeal to my husband at this time of year, but he eats it in winter.
Or eat salty foods such as pickles. Some cultures increase soup intake during heat, so it just depends. I see it as a good way to hydrate and up the salt. Two birds... 😉
I don’t want to be a Debbie Downer but I did the same thing and it worked quite well. But after 18 months or so of the extra salt I got kidney stones.
Kidney stones are quite painful and were attributed to all the salt I was taking. I had to have an operation to remove a blocked one and have a stent installed to help pass the smaller ones.
It was no fun.
Because I continued to feel stones passing and wanted to avoid another blocking stone I got a countertop water distiller and drank a lot of distilled water. That worked and it has been 6-8 months since I have felt a stone passing. Plus, it turned out that the extra water favorably affected the OH.
Be careful with the salt. A stuck kidney stone is extremely painful.
