I have written several times before about a fascinating conversation I had with my previous gastroenterologist. We were discussing the pros and cons of getting a Colonoscopy since I had turned 50. I was resistant. However, the good doctor trying to incentivize me talked about how 100% of her patients with Parkinson's, reported complete remission of symptoms after the procedure. For some, it lasted weeks, and for some it lasted months. She speculated that the mystery agent must be profofol as some patients even forgot for some time that they had Parkinson's while in the recovery room. It a turned out that her own mom had Parkinson's and therefore she was up to speed with the latest in Parkinson's disease treatment at that time.
Fast forward. I came across this article below and other articles that reference the same source and interpret the research for the laypeople that we are. Enjoy, don't get your hopes too high and do rush to schedule your next Colonoscopy 👍😂😅🤓
Wow! My husband experienced this for a couple of days after his last colonoscopy. It was wonderful. I thought it was more due to the colon cleanse but this is an interesting theory.
@LeharLover62, I am glad that your husband experienced it and you observed & noted that. Can I ask what happened on the third day? What prompted your husband to restart his medications ?
Well, he just had an excellent day where he was able to outline his book at his computer and work again well right after. He has cognitive impairment normally, so this was wonderful to see him like his old self. His meds didn’t change.
@LeharLover62, good to hear and I am so happy for you both. BTW, I am due for a Colonoscopy for the first time in my life and honestly I am petrified. I scheduled my appointment as far away as I could for the procedure on September. Now, the good doctor is hounding me and asking me to reschedule it for eaeli😩🤗.
It should be easy peasy with an experienced gastro. Hubby’s had several…if you have constipation and slow gastric motility make sure they give you extended prep (extra days) or you’ll have to do it again! Also, if you take mannitol stop it a few days before.
