When I first joined here (much before what my record shows) there was a small group me included with John and others , all expounding on the virtues of forcing exercise. A ton of reports that lay in the Health Unlocked archives, discussed and discussed. The main stream Parkinson's organizations . (who all say the same things) made little to no mention of benefits of exercise .

Now they studied 13,000 parkys and come with recommendations on how we should exercise. number of hours per week etc but they blew it. They missed the main point entirely , probably not understanding the word "forced" or maybe it sounded politically incorrect. Driving yourself past previous goals and pushing as hard as you can until you do feel better .

It is probably inclusive , non racial, excepting of gays and all others and non religious with validation by all the professions and agreed by committee , but they missed the main point. In an effort to keep everyone who does not have PD happy, they white washed the whole thing made it easy and simplified it for us dumb Parkys . ya would not want to be seen pushing Parkys now would you. This is not help-full, it makes everything we have been saying useless. They might as well add finger puppets.

QUOTE "recommend you consult a physical therapist specializing in Parkinson’s for an evaluation and patient-specific direction."

Good luck with that

Perhaps it's not white washing at all. Much of the newer research I have read has left of the word "forced" as well. Perhaps the forced part of the equation is now proving to be unnecessary or outdated. This article is very helpful in that it gave clear recommendations on the type and frequency of the most important main types of exercise. And, these days there are more and more physical therapists working with PWPs. One of the benefits of this horrible pandemic is the increased access to online classes and therapists, even for those who live in remote areas.

I was quite pleased to see these recommendations. It gives clear and simple advice which can help most PWP (I fear most PWP don't do enough).

Yes you are right. Most of us sit idle like ducks (sometimes including me) and complain that the disease is progressing faster. We have to preserve ourselves till some robust treatment discovery.
