Rib injuries with PD warriors...?

Hello,

As you may tell, I’m not sleeping well tonight.. Mostly my fault, I was wrestling around with my ADHD son, and boom! I’m down. Now, every breath hurts and it’s miserable. It also happened last year and after 4-5 week’s felt a lot better.

I have never had a broken bone, and now this... Is it safe to say to say that us PD warriors lose some bone strength? I have done everthing to tend to preventing this through nutrition, etc... but?

I don't see how anyone could tell anything from your message. I slipped on ice while hiking in the mountains. At first I thought it was bruised ribs but the pain lasted much longer than other injuries; a sprained ankle and fractured tibia. Finally went to a doctor who said it's strained intercostal muscles. Intercostal muscles connect rib to rib. Fractured ribs heel in 6-8 weeks. Strained intercostals heal in 18 to 20 weeks. What I remember is living in constant fear of needing to sneeze. If I sneezed the pain would about knock me out. Doctors wouldn't prescribe anything but tylenol. Which was useless. No suggestions other than ride it out. I spent a lot of time in the rec center sauna.

Agree with kaypeeoh....the prolonged recovery may be due costochondritis...this is an inflammation of the cartilage that connects your ribs to your breastbone...as kaypeeoh notes, this can take a few months to fully resolve. I am at the tail end of recovery from hurling myself out of bed in a nightmare. My doc recommended Aleve, heating pads, epsom salts in a warm bath....all helpful. Hope you feel better soon.
