New research demonstrates the anti‐dyskinetic potential of doxycycline (& its analog compound COL‐3) in a rodent model of Parkinsons; L‐DOPA was not affected by doxy or COL‐3; Doxy was also associated with decreased FosB, cyclooxygenase‐2, GFAP, & OX‐42

I had doxy on the shelf in my vet practice so I took 100mg twice daily for 14 days. No effect except some sun sensitivity.

Doxy has been thoroughly discussed several times on this forum. Do a search.

See also Minocycline, a semisynthetic tetracycline-derived antibiotic if you are at all familiar with antibiotic use and PD.

If you understand the a-syn theory, tetracycline-derived antibiotics may help reduce misfolding. See: González-Lizárraga F, Socías S, Ávila C et al. Repurposing doxycycline for synucleinopathies: remodelling of α-synuclein oligomers towards non-toxic parallel beta-sheet structured species. Sci Rep 2017;7:41755.

Theory.
