Dealing with oily, itching scalp due to PD?

I discovered on the Australian PD website that itchy, oily scalp is often PD related. Medicated shampoo that I've tried gives only a few hours of relief from the itch. Any recommendations?

Tgel daily but you may need to work on clearing the scalp first using a product containing Salicylic acid.

Itchy scalp is usually due to fungus and is best treated with prescription antifungals. Consider seeing a dermatologist.

Oily scalp can be caused by a zinc deficiency and if that is the cause, zinc supplementation can alleviate the problem. On a related note, the following study suggests that zinc levels may be low in PwP:

Try digestive enzymes and pantethine. I think they have helped.

Arlington, THis is a common problem with PD.

It is cured easily with a strong anti-dandruff shampoo. Try the strongest “Head and shoulders,” the one with Selenium, an d follow the directions. Apply, rub into scalp and face. Wait two minutes, rinse off then repeat for another two minutes

After doing this for two or three nights, you will be better, but to stop it recurring, use it once or twice a. week, as a regular shampoo, , that is just once, and only for a minute
