Sorry for this question but I have experienced worsening of my tremors immediately after a bowel movement. It always happens and last for a while until I rest and eat something. Was wondering if anyone else experience this phenomenon. And more importantly why might this be happening. Any thoughts? Please let me know. Thank you.
Measure your BP and see if there's any correlation. Drink water with some unrefined salt and see if that helps if you notice a low BP causing the issue. If you're not supplementing B12, see if a sublingual methyl B12 will help as well.
This is just a guess, so make of it what you will. Following gastric emptying, levodopa is moved into the upper intestine, where it is absorbed. Thus, the upper intestine acts as a reservoir of levodopa waiting to be transported through its walls into the bloodstream. When a bowel movement happens a consequence is that the contents are forced lower down the intestines, taking the levodopa away from the region where it can be absorbed. With no more new levodopa to absorb, levodopa levels fall, causing tremor. Eating can cause gastric emptying, sending any levodopa that remains in the stomach into the upper intestine, where it can be absorbed, increasing levodopa levels, and causing tremor to decrease.
