A few take aways from her data;
1) the things we do affects the rate of our progression.
2) the more exercise we do, the slower we progress & exercising twice a week does not count. Must be minimum 3 times.
3) neural plasticity, that is, growing new neurons, requires leaving your comfort zone.
4) loneliness is more impactful on progression than is exercise. (Therefore, our Zoom meetings slows progression.)
5) plant based diet matters
6) 2 large studies show Mediterranean diet improves depression and apathy and is statistically associated with slower progression. Once you have Parkinson's, the more dairy you eat, the faster you progress. (Boo-hoo. I do so LUV my chocolate covered ice cream bars.) While you are at it, drop cheap cheese, canned fruits and vegetables, soda, and, yes, red meat, processed meat and yogurt.
7) calcium supplements may be a no-no.
8) and so on and so forth.
