what happend to the levodopa not absorbed in the small intestine?

I've a question for this wonderful community.

Does anyone have an idea of what happends to the levodopa not absorbed in the small intestine? will it be absorbed later in the rest of the intestine (probably slower and less)?

Or it will be metabolised (tranformed) by the microbiota in other (useless or whynot toxic?) substances?

any comment/link will be appreciated

Thanks in advance

absorption of nutrients and meds occurs in the small intestine. The large intestine forms the stool by absorbing liquids and passing it out to the rectum. So to answer your question, anything not absorbed in the small intestines passes out of the body as waste.

If something doesn't get absorbed, it gets excreted.

For an example, if you intake enteric coated pills with lemon/orange juice or vinegar, you may notice intact pills in your stool because your intestine failed to neutralize the flood of acid.

Not necessarily. A gross oversimplification. Skin conditions like acne and psoriasis and conditions like lymphedema (due to lymph node removal) are obvious examples of limited excretion of waste products.

"with lemon/orange juice....because your intestine failed to neutralize the flood of acid"

From OJ? Typical pH is somewhere between 3.7 and 4.4. Even apples are more acidic. Lemon and most fruits become akaline when digested.

Sharon, skin complications are also part of the excretion process by the body. Yes lemon and acidic fruit become alkaline once metabolized but it's still very acidic (lemon juice's ph is 2) and will interfere with enteric coating designed to simply move along untouched past the stomach to the small intestine. The analogy may have been oversimplified, but apparently you've never experienced the phenomenon noticed by many, including myself. Try taking an enteric coated omega-3 with enough apple cider vinegar (overwhelm the intestine's ability to neutralize with a flood of acid) for an example, and you just might see an intact pill in your toilet.

i would agree with sharoncrayn .

Stool remaining too long in the gut causes reabsorption of toxic wastes.

I think there is always a balance of osmotich pressures - ie concentration - for all substances. Suppositorys works in this way even if they only touch the end of the gut (the anus)

"Stool remaining too long in the gut causes reabsorption of toxic wastes."

Yes that's true - but in that case it's still in the colon and getting absorbed along with remaining nutrients and water until excreted through the rectum.

"until excreted through the rectum. "

Don't agree with that over simplification. Watch "Dr. Pimple Popper" on TV. Pretty obvious what is happening.

Regardless of Dr. PP, toxic wastes are not always excreted. If they were, heavy metals retention would not be an issue. It is an issue as we ALL know.

Moving on.

Yes, some toxic waste, especially metals, are not always excreted and they do get "absorbed" and accumulate in the body. I know all about it and have done many natural chelation therapies, MCP/ALA,, and sauna protocols to help remove them, especially after hair mineral analysis. I don't believe l-dopa nor other nutrients fit in that category.

" I don't believe l-dopa nor other nutrients fit in that category. "

How so? You already missed on your initial comment, and you are wrong on this comment as well. Primarily because no one has examined this issue with the amino acid l-dopa that I am aware of.

I discussed this issue at length in another thread.

Huh? How did I miss my initial comment other than you misunderstanding as usual? Anything not "absorbed" gets excreted one way or another. Some metals and other toxins are obviously absorbed to be accumulated to end up showing in hair especially when your detox is not working optimally, as to most unused vitamins (especially soluble) and nutrients end up in your toilet.
