Hi all. Anybody used or using them? I’ve watched a couple of videos on YouTube but can’t seem to properly get my head around what the difference Is between them and some light dumbbells 💪. All observations welcome thanks 🙏.

I used them a couple of times at the local PD Warrior type class as someone brought them in. I was very cynical but now can see how they work. There are these sliding weights inside which travel around the ring and hit each end - giving immediate feedback about the power you used to move it. In my case it made it very obvious that my left arm was falling behind and enabled me to even it up with the speed and firce used on the right

But...hefty price tag so haven't invested.

If I remember correctly Daphne mentioned using smoveys. You may want to check with her.

My hubby uses them every morning whilst doing his daily wake up exercises, I also do his back and calves, its almost like a deep massage for him. I feel the rhythm of the metal balls going thro me as well whilst doing it, helps with my tired body. Lots of good you tube videos available. It is like everything else, you only get back what you put in and not everything works or is suitable for each individual, but we think it's worth it.

DStewart, sono d'accordo. Funzionano bene sia come attrezzi da ginnastica che come aiuto per il massaggio. Io li uso per la schiena di mio marito, stupidamente non ho mai pensato di usarli per la sua caviglia bloccata... In Italia li ho pagati 110 euro.

Yes looking on the website there is a lot of information I hadn't previously digested - I didn't realise they could be used for massage - thanks for sharing Pinca6 and Dstewart.

There are now blue ones called smoveyMED specifically adapted for people with neurological issues.

Tempting - thanks for bringing it up jeeves.

I bought the green Smovey rings as we were introduced to them during our visit to European Parkinson centre in Italy. Took me a lot of research to find them in UK.

My husband who has PD uses them sometimes but he says some of the exercises are difficult with his problem back.

I however really like them and quite often do the exercises following the CD that comes with them. I think they help with movement so will try and encourage him to use them more often.

We use them in or PD boxing class. My understanding is that when we swing our arms in the different exercise directions we can hear the ball beatings move in the tubes. The idea is to move our arms on both sides so we get the same amount of sound so we know we are swing our arms the same amplitude. Helps us in training muscle control. Hope that helps.

Hello, I am a medical exercise specialist. For the past 19 years, I have been running an exercise class specifically for people with PD. I use the Vibroswings most every class for a portion of the class. The participants seem to feel the benefit and like using them.

I have corresponded with a few other people who lead classes with Vibroswings and they get the same feedback. I hope this is helpful

Cheers. Are these the same as Smovey?

Gary Sharpe on "Out Thinkings Parkinsons" has a few interesting articles on them.

Hello everybody, My name is Ilene and I have been on this site for a long time but I do not post very often. As it turns out Smovey Rings, or aka Smovey Vibroswing-System is a product I know a lot about as I became a Smovey Coach and licensed re-seller about 5-6 years ago. In part I didn’t post about them as I didn’t want to advertise or be a “sales” person. I can answer several questions and (quietly) make them available at a discounted price, as they are quite costly. (I hope this isn’t overload!)

I was diagnosed with PD almost seven years ago and learned about them in a completely novel and different context, as a tool for a method of trauma healing known as Somatic Experiencing, developed by Dr. Peter Levine. I discovered a “double” connection to my work as a trauma therapist and my PD. I learned that the inventor of the Smovey Rings is an Austrian tennis player who has PD and using the rings stabilized his symptoms and inspired the launching of the product.

I have the stiffness and rigidity sub-type of PD and find the vibrational frequency created by swinging the rings is enormously soothing to my nervous system, while I’m also getting a good workout. I use them personally (finding all kinds of you tube videos with Smovey exercise); however, I have mostly focused on the use of Smovey Rings in Somatic Experiencing (SE) practice and I have sold them primarily to SE Practitioners as a tool to use.

I have made several videos, but the first one I made will explain how the Smovey Rings work in general before getting into use of them for SE. It is on my website below, the 3rd one on the Smovey Videos and Reviews page.

I will note that the blue ones described known as SmoveyMed are not available in the U.S. The Smovey Company developed a research arm, wanting to learn about the effect on nervous system functioning, and they split off to become a separate company. I sell the classic smovey rings (bright green color) which are made in Austria, all by hand, in a workshop type setting for disabled people. Both the Classic and SmoveyMed have shown to be effective with nervous system function (though it’s mostly anecdotal from my end).

The “passive” application has been also described here. There is a very positive effect when rolling them on muscles, joints, everywhere! On the DVD that comes with them, they describe rolling them on each of the body’s shakras for a relaxing, rejuevenating effect. You'll see a video also on my website.

My efforts are currently turning to Parkinsons and Smoveys. I have been working with a movement specialist, Antje Waxman, who uses Smovey Rings with Parkinsons’ and until the Pandemic, was conducting several in person Smovey classes. We are starting to work on making a Smovey and Parkinsons exercise class available on line. I am sure we could organize a Zoom class for a group here if there was enough interested. Her contact info is on the same video and reviews page of my website.

Here’s my website with lots of info: once again, if interested, I suggest going to videos & reviews and again, look at 3rd video which is an Introduction to Smovey Rings. You'll also see one on the "passive application" and Antje Waxman's contact info.
