My doctor just changed my prescription from Sinemet to Stalevo. Does anybody have experience taking Stalevo? I am afraid to have hallucinations with Stalevo.

I got switched from Sinemet to Stalevo (Carbidopa 50mg / Levodopa 200mg / Entacapone 200mg) about a year and a half ago. I combine it with mucuna pruriens and B1 HCL. It works well for me. Only thing, the entacapone has gotten really expensive...

Thank you for your response yes it is quite expensive. Are you symptom-free? Or has it improved your symptoms since you switched from Sinamet?

Symptom free? Surely you jest. During on time, yes. The mucuna pruriens I get from a tablespoon of Zandopa powder (Amazon). And, from

Nutrivita, the 98%-100% pure L-Dopa, nutrivitashop.com/l-dopa-10... Both of these are very reasonable priced. The Nutrivita however is powerful stuff and I take it only with my morning regimen. Currently 1/32 teaspoon. My next step is to wean myself off of Stalevo and replace it by increasing the Nutrivita dose. This, not only for financial reasons, but also I feel the Nutrivita to be a higher quality product.

I was switched from Sinamet to Stalivo about four years ago because of my problem with dyskinesia. The rationale was that the entacapone would promote absorbtion of Levidopa so as I would be less likely to have dyskinesia as my doses increased. I am now taking Levodopa 150 mg every three hours. I have no problem with hallucinations from it but I do still get dyskinesia.

Hi nourilo. I switched about 6 weeks ago. Started by taking stalevo then sinemet alternately during each day for first month. To be honest I can't say much has changed. I was taking sinemet 100/25 5 times a day every 2 hours. This was the only way for me to avert crippling dystonia which happens as sinemet wears off. With stalevo I'm able to stretch the 2 hours out a little to say 2.5 hours. The only thing I noticed from side affects is very yellow pee and some tiredness after taking each dose. Otherwise all OK.

When I was taking Sinemet 25/100 I started to have trouble sleeping. On my last visit to the doctor, I was switched to Stalevo And for the first couple of nights my sleep improved. I am on my third day of Stalevo and now I cannot sleep.

If I take sinemet too close to bedtime it affects my sleep too. I try not to take it after two hours before.
