Our food is not safe to eat. Pesticides and harmful chemicals are everywhere. One needs to counteract that by eating organic and fermented foods. Fermented foods are inexpensive and easy to make at home. Almost any vegetable can become a fermented food, which provides good bacteria to the gut. Many, many times, I have read, by doctors I trust, that all disease starts in the gut. Think toxins.
Interesting, thank you. We can at least try to make sure that (as well as minimising intake as far as possible) our bodies are able to metabolise and eliminate efficiently. Gut function is important but liver (and lymph) are often overlooked and may well need some help. The longer you've been ill and the more medication you've taken, the more likely that they will be having a hard time. Best wishes
