This has fascinated me for some time now. The evidence seems robust. I bought myself a Red light LED lamp (cheap off amazon)and have been using it for 2 weeks now. It may just be placebo but I swear it makes a difference. My gait especially is much improved as is my bradykenesia. Tremor somewhat reduced but still there. I havnt done anything else different. At some points in the day I feel almost normal and forget I have PD. For this reason I will continue using.

Wonderful ! Wishing that you get better with time. I have built a Red light lamp using LEDs (670nm) for my mother and it has been a week since she started using it. Could you let me know the details of the lamp you bought on Amazon ?

Sorry I don’t know how to paste a photo to this message, but it was just a LED light bulb with 660nm and 850nm infrared. Apparently the cheap bulbs are just as effective. Don’t need to spend hundreds on a joov etc. Have you checked website ‘red lights on the brain’. Gives DIY info.

yes, I built a Cossack hat based on the website 'red lights on the brain'. It would be nice to know the Name of the Red Light LED Lamp you bought from the Amazon website and the cost.

Read the research/links in the post or just search ‘optogenetics and parkinsons’. I work as a midwife and we use phototherapy in NICU units in every hospital in the world for jaundice babies. The pathway is different but I see the power of light and am excited about it’s medical use

Hi ! How are you doing now ? Did you make it into a bucket hat ?

John, thanks so much for this info. I looked at lamps/bulbs on Amazon ... do you just sit under it? Like a regular lamp? Is the benefit gained from your eyes taking the light in or it penetrating your skin? Sorry -- you're just posting about this and I am making you an instant expert :) !

Please click the following links to know more. A hat that has LED red lights and is worn on the head for around 20 minutes, twice a day. (for PD)

Thank you, I did look at that. I guess I was sidetracked by the bulb discussion, hoping to bypass either buying the expensive crown or making one. I'll check it out again, though, and thanks so much.

I just position the single bulb (in a lamp) behind my head for maybe 15mins, then I spin around and shine in my face (eyes open) for about 3-5mins. Study was just published last week about RLT red light therapy significantly improving eyesight. Don’t know how to link here....just look it up. Since I have been using it my balance and brain fog/feeling woosy much improved also.

Sara - no need for any link; just the name of the product/lamp and the cost will suffice. Beats searching and choosing from the many many brands out there. I am sure it would help many here to look it up, (especially as it seems to have benefited you). So, please let us know the details.

Sara, thank you for the name of the bulb. Do you know by any chance how many watts your bulb is - there are some 24, 36 and 54 watts. Would appreciate that information.

Hi Sara. Thank you so much that’s very helpful. I know it would be so nice to get rid of the Head fog. I’ll let you know how it goes after I get my Bulb. Thanks so much!
