Hi I'm MsMaggie65. I'm 51 and I was diagnosed with PD in 2004. I have 3 sons and a 10 yr old daughter. It has been a roller coaster for the past 12 years. Hoping to find people I can chat with about PD.That understands what I'm feeling. Not looking for any pity just some understanding. God Bless

Ups and Downs of PD

Hi Maggie
I am glad you came on here seeking friendship.
Yes, we understand the roller coaster of Parkinson's.
I can have a wonderful day, so much so that I dream that I don't have PD anymore!!
The very next day I am in the pits with symptoms, and I think it is over!
I am learning not to catastrophy my symptoms.
I have started telling myself, this too shall pass.
And it does.
For me, attitude is everything. I could get depressed, and I don't allow myself to go there.
What a beautiful picture of you and your daughter!!
I am glad to meet you Maggie!!
Love, Eva Gabrielle

Good luck
Nice to meet you Maggie I'm Christy also 51. Though I had unidentified symptoms for at least 8-10 yrs I was just diagnosed with pd a little over a yr ago. I have found this site go be loaded with helpful and compassionate people who are there or have been where I am at any given moment. I'm glad you chose to reach out and would be happy to be your "sound off buddy" any time. What part of the world are you coming from?
What kind of exercise do you do? I'm afraid to do anything because I might lose my balance and fall.
Honestly I do very little for the same reason. I took a really bad fall in March (concussion, stitches, 8 broken ribs, etc) and now am starting with a physical therapist next week to gain some strength and become more confident in exercise because I understand it is extremely important.
If not too personal, what part of Florida? I live in Oklahoma but my mother and sister live in Tampa vicinity and I go there pretty frequently. I hope I didn't confirm your fears about exercise because I honestly don't know that the fall had anything to do with balance as I don't remember any of it and the Dr. suggested I may have feinted before falling (down a flight of stairs onto hardwood) since I had no defensive injuries.
You sure came to the right place, Maggie!
p.s. What an upper to look at two such sweet faces! Looks like there's a lot of love in your family.
Welcome to the sight Maggie. I am sure you will have a lot of Pwp's that will have a lot of understanding on PD
Hi Maggie this is Judy. I also live in Florida. I was 52 when I was diagnosed but suffered with symptoms for almost 10 years. I am now coming up on 60 in February. I am happy to share my history/experiences with you but I have pretty much all non-motor symptoms. No tremors just stiffness dyskenasia slowness and pain but only when I am in off time. This is a great site for support. You can find a lot of good information here and some great friends. Hope you're well! Judy

I was diagnosed in 2010 at age 54. Love your picture!
Hugs, Sherry
HI, stay positive for your family's sake, have as much fun as you can with them! Exercise all you can! And have a glass of red wine at happy hour!
Remember all of us only have today!! PD or no PD!
Hi I'm always free to chat! I feel completely lost.I live overseas but returning to the UK next year.
Hi MsMaggie. I have been able to overcome most of the symptoms of my Pd. I have not taken any Pd medication for the past 14 years and have not needed to consult a neurologist for the past 15 years. If you go to my website - reverseparkinsons.net you can read over 400 articles, mainly on dealing with Pd. You can also write to me and ask me questions. There is no cost involved.
