Melatonin also protects endothelial cells as well as red blood cells being damaged by excess oxidative stress as seen in Covid-19 which can lead to blood clots, while also being the most potent antioxidant in the body ( more powerful than glutathione) that helps to neutralize the significantly elevated levels of ROS that is seen in patients that damages endothelial cells, a potent antiinflammatory agent, an upregulator of the gene expression of the bodies own potent antioxidants, catalase, superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase. Melatonin also scavenges reactive oxygen species/hydroxyl radicals, reactive nitrogen species, H2o2 and peroxynitrite.

Melatonin is also protective of all major organs in the body that the virus has shown itself to damage. Melatonin is an excellent protector of the lungs which is very important in Covid-19 to help protect against the cytokine storm. Melatonin acts as an anticoagulant which is very useful in Covid-19 as it has shown itself to cause blood clots.

Melatonin also lowers the inflammatory cytokine IL-6, chemokine IL-8, IL-17, inflammatory mediator TNF-alpha, NF Kappa b and IL-1b which are all elevated in Covid-19.

There is much more that melatonin does to fight Covid-19, such that if one was trying to create a good drug to fight the effects of the virus, melatonin could possibly be it.

For Covid-19, Dr. Neel is using 50~100 mg/day depending on your size and severity of disease and his patients are reversing after the first day. For Cancer, Dr. Shallenberger is using 300~360 mg/day. For cancer and other disease prevention, Dr. Shallenberger is using 180 mg/evening to all of his patients other than cancer patients.

As long as you have enough to use for C-19, should the need arise.

I am on my second melatonin experiment where I started at 80 mg/night and add on 10 mg each night after the first week so I am currently up to 140 mg/night and tonight will bring me to 150 mg/night. I will at least go to 180 mg/night with this current experiment. So far, so good!

I'll be at 180 mg tonight and no problems so far! I will make this my limit for now based on what Dr. Reiter has written.

The only thing I have noticed since I am escalating at 10 mg per night is that this morning, I did feel a little lazy when I first got up, but that quickly passed as soon as I started getting busy. I have experienced this previously when I first experimented years ago at 70 mg / day. For me it seems to take about a week or two to get past that lazy feeling, but this time I seem to be adjusting much quicker at these higher doses!

Great. Hate to have to bug you, how do you distribute the dose around the day/night? All at night? Different schedule? Absorb-able, what form?

To the best of my knowledge, daytime dosing is mainly used for cancer. All others are night dosing. Dr. Shallenberger uses the ultra high doses of 300 ~ 360 mg used around the clock as part of his treatment for his cancer patients.

I took 3 doses of 60 mg last night. One dose at 7:00 pm, second dose at 9 pm and third dose at 11:00 pm. These are capsules and instant release.

No it isn't for coronavirus I bought it. He is nearly off the last of the mirtazapine and I thought it may help if he can't get to sleep when he goes off the last bit. But I was interested to see Art mention it here. Hopefully it won't be back here but they are still letting a few people in so it it is possible one of the air crew could spread it for example.
