historic Parkinson’s experiment

Asecretive experiment revealed this week, in which neurosurgeons transplanted brain cells into a patient with Parkinson’s disease, made medical history. It was the first time such “reprogrammed” cells, produced from stem cells that had been created in the lab from the man’s own skin cells, had been used to try to treat the degenerative brain disease. But it was also a bioethics iceberg, with some issues in plain sight and many more lurking.

I have no problem with this if it benefits the PD community. Transparency and a case-by-case judgment would be needed. My question is... how is the patient doing? Did they say and I just missed it? Quite possible.

Harvard stem cell biologist Dr Kwang-Soo Kim and collaborating neurologists will report the full details of the experiment in a medical journal this week

BTW Immediately after the brain cells were transplanted, Doc was practically high.

He felt as though he had regained motor control and strength.

His doctors cautioned that brain surgery itself can trigger dopamine surges, and that the immediate effects of the stem cells might have little to do with their longer term effects.

They were right about the first part, at least. Doc's jubilant mobility lasted two days.

But he wasn't getting worse, and regular checks of his brain showed no signs that the stem cells were triggering tumors or other major side effects.

In 2018, he underwent a second surgery, injecting millions more stem cells into the other side of Doc's brain.

In the intervening months, rumors started to spread that Japanese scientists had been the first to do such a brain cell transplant, but Dr Kim and the entire team kept quiet, waiting to be sure that Doc's surgeries had in fact been a success.

Brain scans have continued to show that the neurons seem to be producing dopamine, and Doc is still tumor free.

In fact, he's much better than that. He's started buying shoes with laces, which he can tie himself. He can swim again.

Yes, I just read the whole article from the first link. Not a miracle cure but perhaps another tool to benefit us.

Thank you for posting that. Without people like you this site would just be people like me whining. Haha

IQ:

Here is the reality:

"The researchers will report the results of their pilot study in a scientific publication this week. They declined to share that video, or other images of Lopez, until after the paper is published, but emphasized that, at most, the transplants show modest effectiveness. Lopez still takes almost as much Parkinson’s medication as before."

Always drill down.

Thanks for the review. I have gone through every word of it and crux is the same as quoted by you. Although we should not be jubilant with these results, however I am more curious now about the existence of similar secret experiments. I had uploaded the study report yesterday

All the major industrialized countries have conducted "secret" experiments of various types going back to WWI (the German chemist Haber became knows as the Father of Chemical Warfare with his mustard gas experiments) and most assuredly beginning with the lead up to WWII.

The secret experimental development of SARS-cov-2-wuhan by the US and China toxic virology labs is just the latest example.

This stem cell surgery is rather benign in comparison to some of these secret experiments over the last 75 years. The reality for some insane scientists who want to play god.

The atomic bomb was funded by governments and it was secret experiments that brought it to us, but they never financed the answer to such a lethal weapon, dangerous even for those who use it,

very strange isn't it?

this tells us that they are crazy and potentially suicidal.

Here is a video of an interview with Dr. Simon Wain-Hobson of the prestigious Pasteur Institute in Paris on what they do in laboratories such as wuhan's

and quote this video:

"CoV-2 and Covid19 are the product of the viral Gain of Function experiments?

The planet is on its knees due to a pandemic, while in various laboratories around the world scientists are working genetically with the Gain of Function to make some viruses trivial deadly, risking to cause another, much more lethal. Here is the reality of the viral Gain of Function, but in the words of a world-renowned scientist: Dr. Simon Wain-Hobson of the prestigious Pasteur Institute in Paris.

English subtitles present.

Only a development of the humanities will save us by bringing spiritual health against potentially suicidal materialistic madness. Man is not his brain, but his conscious and immortal soul, in short. :-)

"Gain of function" (GoF) research was a way to describe the limited type of experiments covered by the U.S. deliberative review and control process (to avoid pandemics). However, It became a "play on words" for the field of virology to undertake experiments that would go undetected by the control process and ultimately lead to this toxic virus.

A clear cut example is called “gain of function research of concern,” which includes the generation of viruses with properties that do not exist in nature (which is what we have with SARS-cov-2 wuhan). The other famous example is the production of H5N1 influenza A viruses that are airborne-transmissible among ferrets, compared to the non-airborne transmissible wild type.

Sick scientists.
