Hi dear John! Love you....and love your book! You are my PD hero! Just want to know why you stopped taking Selegiline in 2003? That’s the only PD drug I use. I have had PD for probably ten years. I had diminished sense of smell first. The left-side tremor started in 2014. I have about 18 symptoms. Trying to reverse symptoms naturally. Janet

Question for John Pepper...
Hi ShanaandBear
Thanks for your support.
I stopped the Selegiline because of my high BP. It was 260/190, which is very dangerous. You have to be careful with MAO-b inhibitors.
It took me eight months to overcome the effects of coming off, after six years, but since then, I have not needed any Pd medication.
How would one wean off of c/l 25/100 three x a day?
HI Shanaandbear
Are you planning on replacing your medication with something else?
I would suggest that you start doing fast walking and after three months you could try reducing your Sinemet by half a pill each week.
In other words, for a week you take 2 and half pills. next week you take 2 pills etc
I only take Selegiline . No C/L.
THe best result from taking Selegiline or Azilect is that they should slow down the progression of Pd, but that does not mean stopping it.
If you take Selegiline and do fast walking, you can reverse the symptoms over several years and land up with such low levels of most of the movement symptoms that you won't need any medication. That's the best I can offer you.
What effects did you experience, John? I would rather not take ANYTHING!! I am seeing a naturopath to get me on the right path, nutritionally. I am off sugar and gluten for now. Only been doing it for a week and I have lost four pounds, have less pain from my PD, and the tremors aren’t as bad. I try to walk like you do, but have a bum right ankle. I watched your walking video and it was very helpful. Thank you! Hugs!❤️😘
Hi Shanaandbear
You don't have to take any medication, but MAO-bs do help you stop the downward progression of your Pd.
The combination of the MAO-b and the Fast Walking can reverse your Symptoms, but it takes time.
All other Pd medication is merely designed to temporarily hide soemof the symptoms. Not all of them do that and none of the hiding of symptoms is permanent. So you simply continue to get worse when you take those medications.
I hope this is of help to you
Thanks, John. I’ll keep taking the Selegiline for awhile. I will be turning 73 this summer, and from my symptoms, have had PD for about ten years. Sorry there are some negative people on this site. They are not helpful to anyone, and just make themselves look bad. I appreciate your positivity and great advice. You are AWESOME and have helped me so much! Thanks again!
People have every right to protect their territory. They earn their living from medication and consultation and that living is threatened by what I have done and am trying to do. Just see it for what it is and be happy that you, at least, are getting the benefit of doing something positive about YOUR PD!

Hi Shanaandbear----
Is the Selegiline you take a generic brand? Do you live in USA?
What is your daily dosage?
No, it is Selegiline. I live in the USA. I take two pills a day. 💔😁
