Long-term use of blood pressure medication Dynacirc (isradipine) does not slow disease progression in people with early Parkinson’s disease, according to findings from a Phase 3 clinical trial.

I don't understand why they just got around to publishing this, but I think they pulled the plug on this study well over a year ago.

Jim, I have been taking Isradipine for 3 years +or- . It is important that I do not have low blood pressure and it seems it is rather middle high; 140 at the highest with no meds. I am 7 years post diagnosis and my doctor says I am progressing slowly. More importantly I feel generally well. After the null results of the Isradipine study I decided to continue its use at 10 mg a day with no noticeable changes except my BP remains 115 to 125 with use.

That's my story.

I believe Parkinson's disease has several subtypes and some treatments which "fail" might actually work for some of us. The GDNF trial in the U.K. comes to mind.

Congratulations on doing well after 7 years. As a relative "newbie", I'm encouraged by your success!

my BP has been creeping up slowly and my doctor finally said we gotta do something. Naturally I demanded Isradipine, because, hey, I could be a lucky one where there might be SOME benefit and it couldnt hurt!
