My husbands Parkinsons tremors seem to be getting harder and more frequent, his Neuro has recently suggested putting on Rytary, anyone on this drug, could you please comment on it's positives and/or negatives.

Thanks so much

I’ve been taking Rytary for two years and my experience has been excellent in terms of off periods; virtually none.

Hi,

what dose do you take and how many hours are you on,before it wears off for the next dose?

I take four 95mg capsules every four hours and have no off periods between doses.

Hello, are you still going ahead with having your DBS in January?

I had the DBS last year it was a great decision I have reduced my meds from 1200mg of levadopa to 800mg per day!

Hi gobbsofjoy. I read your profile and your posts. Can you please describe the positive and negative effects of DBS? How did you do with the speech ?

My DBS has been all positive and my speech has not been effected at all. The biggest benefit was in reducing my daily levadopa from 1200mg to 800mg which ended my acting out dreams which were becoming a problem.

I've been taking it since the 2nd day that it was available. I have had dbs since I started taking it. For me, I take 2 of the smallest capsules, first dose at 9AM followed up by 2 more at 1PM and 2 at 6PM. my only other Parkinson's med I take is a sinemet cr at 9PM. I have no dyskinesia or off times.

I have been taking Rytary for six months. Changed from Sinemet and the difference is huge. Taking 48.75/195 Three times a day. Love Rytary. It improved my life.

Also taking Rytary, 2 x 95 mg four times a day, 7.30, 11.30, 4.30, 9.00 (times can vary 1/2 hr or so). I do supplement with 1/2 C/L up to 3 x day as needed, as approved by my neurologist. Do have some dyskinesia, but overall good experience with Rytary. I have been on it for 2.5 years. It takes a while to figure out dosages. I do not know how it works for tremor; I am slow/stiff dominant in my symptoms. Also take Azilect and 4 mg Neupro patch. Hope this helps.

Hi, I've been very satisfied with Rytary. I take it four times a day. Three doses of 48.75/195mg and the 4th dose takes me through the night is 61.25/245 mg. It's extended release feature means I have shorter "off" times (usually only half an hour) between doses.

Significant improvement over Carbidopa/Levodopa alone which gave me a large hit an hour or two after taking it (with dyskinesia) and then an hour or more of off time before next dose of medication.

145 RYTARY x 3 daily works well for me better than regular C/L
