Just a hello (I'm in hospital with a ruptured appendix, slowly on the mend)

Hi dear people.

I have been in a war story. 4 days home in bed sick. 7 days in the hospital so far. I don't recommend a ruptured appendix to anyone.

Laurie Mischley's injunction for me to be vegan is out the window right now as I nourish my body with proteins.

I think we all are delighted with your recovery.

You are right to give up the ridiculous diet. Eating whatever you feel like, is a much better plan .

Hi Elliot, I had a ruptured a ppendix in feb 2019. Who knows what caused it. I was and still am on thiamin hcl but I've lowered the dose from 4000 to 3000mg. I was on solgar vit b, but have switched to vitacost b1, which is much easier on the stomach. Were you on thiamin hcl? I hope you're feeling better. I was put on high dose of antibiotics for the ruptured appendix and 3 mos later had an appendectomy laproscopic. I was very lucky but it was scarey as we were in Mexico and I got the 1st plane out. Take it easy, rest and eat well!

I have been taking 1250

mg of Solgar B1. I don't in anyway attribute the appendicitis to that. Of any possible triggers, I put some attention to some dry roasted peanuts that I ate the night before this all started going down. If I recall correctly, eating dry peanuts preceded one or two of my previous grumbling (growling!) appendix scares.

Interesting to know of gentler vitacost B1 alternative anyway, though.

Thank everyone for your lovely replies and support.

Simple kind words can be very meaningful. Thank you.

I had a second operation a week after my first, to try to clean out the remaining gunk, since my abdomen was swelling up a lot. They started laparoscopically, but ended up making a bigger incision to get at stuff in the back.

In the main I'm doing much better and livelier. Intestines are still not moving yet, so I'm waiting for when I can start eating again!

A big shout out to y'all. Exercise your bodies on a daily basis, and take good care!
