According to this there hasn’t been much research done on it but this is 2 years old. It sounds useful.

Olive "leaf extract" is one of several olive products I tested years ago, but for me they were very harsh on my digestive system which is usually bulletproof. I could not keep them down and the nausea was overwhelming for me, so it was a short experiment!

I don't recall an "olive seed extract" that you mentioned, just the high potency olive leaf extract. It is generally considered a potent anti-pathogen in health restoration.

I have been trying it myself as I have had a few infections (sinus/ ear and UTI) lately and it did not affect my stomach in this way. I am wondering about trying it on my husband as I am pretty sure he has an underlying fungus, or bacterial infection. (Fungal toenail and acne/ rosacea which we have been holding at bay with berberine and allicin)). He often feels nauseous , and fluey but we’re unsure if it’s the medications or supplements. Maybe this will make him feel ill too if it makes you feel ill.

I think it may just be me and "olive anything" as I am not a fan of olive oil at all and it tends to disagree with me as well. I once tried the lemon juice/olive oil remedy for stones and that almost came right back up also, but fortunately the Chanca Peidra capsules worked extremely well for the purpose instead!

Could it be because it is killing off an infection of some kind creating a dieback effect? Or do you disbelieve in that effect?

I definitely believe in a herx reaction because I have experienced mild ones before, but never the serious ones that people often mention about herxing. Generally it will be the more potent anti-pathogenic treatments that can cause herxing such as higher dose iodine, silver nanoparticles, borax and sometimes even garlic. The right pathogen and the right anti-pathogen could easily cause a Jarisch/ herxheimer reaction, but I have only had it happen with the silver nanoparticles and iodine. The symptoms were similar, low grade headache that lasted two or three days each instance and only on the first instance for each one.....very mild. Others report flu like symptoms, headaches and body aches in more intense reactions. In severe die offs, brain swelling can become an issue, but this would be the extreme reaction.

With the high potency olive leaf extract, it goes in and it comes right back out within a half hour to an hour, so I would say my body just does not tolerate it.

Ok, thanks. I wondered if the herx thing is for real or just hype so good to know a real person has experience it😊

It's too bad olive oil and olives don't count! :)

I think the active ingredient is in the oil too! Probably not quite the same concentration though.

2 Oleuropein provides the distinctive tangy, pungent, almost bitter flavor found in high quality extra virgin olive oils.2 It’s also responsible for most of olive oil’s antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and disease-fighting characteristics

LAJ, thanks! I grew up having nothing but olive oil. It's all we use for cooking and baking in the Mediterranean. Olive trees everywhere in the country side. Quite hard labor from picking olives to the final product--olive oil. The deeper the color of olive oil the better.
