Experience with LDN?

I’m hearing that low dose naltrexone addresses symptoms other than tremors and beneficial and benign. My neurologist doesn’t want to prescribe it. I could go to a naturopath for a prescription but wondering what luck others have had with it.

I take 4.5 mg per day and believe it to be beneficial to my overall health, but don't expect to see results from any one thing, which I couldn't anyway because I take a lot of other stuff. Turns out LDN has a cult following. They have their own conferences, podcasts, newsletters, etc.

I have a friend who had increasing problems with Crohn's Disease and nothing helped until she tried LDN. She's not the kind of person who responds to cults. Was an academic before retiring. 🙂

I meant only that LDN has a very enthusiastic and sizable crowd of believers.

Didn't mean to hurt your feelings, MBA. 😥 I'm an Andersen, too, by the way, but the Danish spelling!

Find t 52-6400). They are the pros! Yes I've used it for almost 6 years with good result. Also read "Honest Medicine." My understanding is that it slows down the progression. I wouldn't be without it!

I was happy with LDN for 9 months or so, then one night I awoke with sensitivity all over. Couldn’t lie anywhere. Insomnia is a well known side effect, so I titrated down, and eventually off entirely. That was about a year ago, and I’m still getting slowly getting back to normal.

I am on Marty Hinz’s Amino Acid regime, and getting on ok with it. If the problem was not the LDN then I would not be getting better; albeit slowly.

Many people are doing well with LDN, but nothing’s certain. I replaced mine with B1.

My husband has taken LDN, 3.25 ml, in the morning for several years. We think it may have held off symptoms or kept them mild for a long time. I was using LDN for fibromyalgia and post polio for years before I got the idea it would help him too.

He is still using LDN and has added high dose thiamine. We'll see.

The LDN was a huge help for me with healing faster from musculoskeletal injuries.

I used LDN at 4.5 mg per night for about 7 months to see if it would help my psoriasis as some people with psoriasis have reported benefit, but like many meds and supplements, it was not helpful for my purpose. After stopping LDN, I also noticed no difference.

Crohn's and other IBDs is probably the most tested purpose for LDN. The low dose version has a very good safety profile compared to the high dose version and my derm was willing to prescribe it. The long list of potential uses combined with the safety profile make it worth trying LDN if you have one of the listed diseases that people have reported varying degrees of success with LDN. Some diseases such as ALS that have little in the way of effective treatment options seem like they are worth trying LDN on.

LDN has an affect on many inflammatory mediators in the body as outlined in this LDN / Fibromyalgia study :

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

The effects on any individual inflammatory mediator is not strong so overnight results are unlikely. Dr. Bihari discovered many of the uses for LDN which includes HIV and cancer among many others.
