They are inspirational, but Mr. Sharp took a bad turn for the worse and is in pretty rough shape. He has posted a description of his situation. It's a sobering read.

Hey Mbanderson thanks for this! Where do I find that read?

Thanks

I'll look for it now. Hikoi brought it to my attention. Give me a few minutes.

"Dr Sharpe, Phd, is a scientist and engineer" (just giving credit where it's due).

Let's discuss this. Not to dump in any way on Dr Sharpe, but in retrospect, he had some regrets; mostly that he didn't work faster to find something that would help him more. His story is there for us to examine and to learn from. What should we try to do better to avoid his fate - or to put it off as long as possible?

Obviously, more exercise and possibly HDT, what else?

Would it have been better for him to have gone through a "drug holiday" sooner, before reaching the "dopamine poisoning" state (which indicates brain damage from the drugs themselves)?

Clearly, he should've gone to his drug holiday sooner, but I think most people in his condition don't have the wherewithal/presence of mind to figure that out. When a person is deteriorating rapidly, they want to stop the deterioration. It's counterintuitive to reduce or stop the drugs, so I question if that is a realistic expectation.

Good point. I generally don't see my MD or neuro often enough for them to pick up on panic. The nature of panic is that it comes on quickly. Only someone who sees me regularly would notice. I guess that person could be my "medicine gatekeeper" if it comes to that. Would they have to actually hide the pills? Am I an addict just one fix away from a self-destructive panic attack? Disturbing to consider.

beccainnyc thanks for this. It's difficult to sum up, but essentially didn't really start phsyically and mentall looking after his health until 5/6 years into diagnosis - started getting poisoning from the meds, went on an overdue meds holiday and that made him better and now he's rebuilding again... he's on the mend and getting better

Yes his videos and information has been inspiring from when you see where he started his journey from Maximum medications, no hope, no where to go! I found this especially inspiring for those newly diagnosed ( like my friend) to look at alternate treatments/ lifestyle rather than the medical message we got of ‘ take the tablets, you’ll get worse. Yes he has just taken some steps backwards recently but his experience of this, again very very informative for all, but especially for us as we are UK based. Pleased to see that in recent posts he appears to be taking forward steps again. Follow him regularly. Sometimes I get it, sometimes I don’t, like all PD related posts, it will take anything to help and support my PD friend. We’re not doing too bad so far. 🙂
