Progression of PD

I've been living with PD since 2008. I lately recognized a decline in my condition. I'm generally weaker and find my walking(4km a day) and exercise routine more difficult. Do you fight it and carry on as usual which puts a lot of stress on you or do you accept the deterioration and adapt to a smaller world?

Have you tried increasing the dose? There are very good reasons to keep up with the walking and exercise: your drug regimen should be set to enable this to continue.

I'm hesitant to increase IT IF MY DOSAGE ARE TO HIGH I SUFFER DYSKINESIA. BUT MAYBE IS SHOULD INCREASE IT A BIT AND SEE. BUT I HAVE BEEN TAKING THE SAME DOSAGE FOR 2 YEARS

Hi zadok. W hen you say you walk 4 Ks a day, do you walk as fast as you can? Do you know what Fast walking can do for you?

If you look at my website - reveresparkinsons.net you can see what fast walking has done for me. I have been Pd medication-free since 2002 and have lived a normal life since then. I still have Pd but it is totally under control.

"Do you fight it and carry on as usual which puts a lot of stress on you or do you accept the deterioration and adapt to a smaller world?"

Neither.

You fight it as hard as you can in ways that suit you that produce least stress and you make it better, Diversify, use several methods.( it takes time investigation and practice.) and you prepare for the future and adapt to a different world with different expectations. You must change every aspect of your life , giving up is not an option because there is no do over.

Enjoy yourself when and where possible , make life better for yourself and those close to you and be happy.

easy to say, hard to do, but you can do it.

For years I have been fighting diminishing energy through food, supplements, and exercise with poor results. I'm a vegetarian, and even tried adding meat to my diet.....through HU posts I found Tru Niagen. After researching it many times, I decided to try it. I take 2 every morning, and feel 60-70% improved.

I give myself days off from the good fight when I need them. I find it refreshes me to continue on. We are all in the uncomfortable position of needing to except our situation but also doing the best we can to not give up. I am trying to do better about recognizing the courage and resilience this requires and giving myself an occasional pat on the back instead of just thinking I should be doing better. I may need exercise but I also need kindness, lots and lots of kindness.

PD is a peculiar condition which does not inform you of progress or digress. therefore we have to consult the neuro-surgeon every now and then ultimately after a while you sometimes feel that your Dr. is unable to guide you as there is still not any increase in knowledge and treatment discovered medically to help you to stop progress of the decease as such and as long as you treat the symptoms of the decease . Till such time exchange between our selves experiences & changes however minor they may be request the researchers to follow it up.
