Selegiline caused chest tightness, and C/L made me throw up. Am currently taking no PD meds, but need SOMETHING! My dr recommend Requip. Have any of you heard of it or use it? Thanks.
Requip?: Selegiline caused chest tightness... - Cure Parkinson's
Requip?

Did your Neurologist start you on a low dose of C/L and titrate you up? that worked for me
I was sick with nausea for the first two weeks on carbi/levo 25/100 every four hours but decided on my own to halve each dose but continue every four hours. That seemed to do the trick after about one week.
When I was sure that the nausea was gone, I started alternating 1/2 dose with full dose for two days, then on the third day I went back to full dose every dose which was every four hours and the nausea did not return.
Hope that helps !
You could try carbidopa-levodopa CR which stands for continuous release. The IR which stands for immediate release made me throw up violently also. The CR is a generic version so the price is not too bad on it. Everybody seems to be different, till you try it. You have no idea how it's going to react with your body
Agree. The immediate release version seems to be prescribed by default. Why on earth anyone would think this was a good initial choice is beyond me. It floods the body with a burst of levodopa which is not appropriate for most people – what is usually best is the gradual release of the CR – controlled-release – version.
The first neurologist i went to gave me requip. I woke up at night and I had chest tightening and shaking. Her office told me to come in to the office in 2,weeks. Did not want to discuss it or let me talk to the Dr. Needless to say I found another neurologist right away that I still see almost 15 years later. He never recommended requip - said I didn’t need that particular med as my slight tremor didn’t require that strong of a med. My first med was not a good experience.
I took Selegiline from 1994 till 2002, when I was able to give it up and have lived Pd medication free since then.
One of the Pd symptoms is our inability to keep our chests free of phlegm. It is the same problem that causes constipation. It is called 'Peristalsis'. I have learned how to clear my chest by expelling air out of my lungs without coughing, which makes my throat sore.
There are many ways available to deal with Pd which cost nothing. Because nobody makes anything out of disseminating this information it is not well-known.
Have a look at me website - reverseparkinsons.net and contact me. It costs nothing!
Requip is a dopamine agonist that has to be titrated slowly. My first med was Mirapex, another dopamine agonist, which made me terribly nauseous (after titrating up to the dosage the neuro prescribed). Since it was 24 hour time release, I spent the day on the couch recovering until it left my system. I agree with advise on titrating C/L. Starting even at a 1/4 pill if 1/2 makes you sick. It took me a year on C/L before I was able to take without food; I always took with a few dry crackers and kept them at hand as the drug kicked in.
Everyone's experience differs. In addition to Rytary (time release C/L), I do also use 4 mg Neupro patch, also a dopamine agonist. Neuro titrated very slowly because of my Mirapex experience, and worked well--that is, no nausea.
I have bad nausea with my first does in the mornings and have been given domperidone to take with it which helps. Definitely had to start very slow with 1/4 then 1/2 pill etc and work up to it though.
