I don't know anything about the therapy, but the prices are quite reasonable if I'm reading it correctly.

This seems to be a great idea. One of my PwP friends just mentioned last week it would be nice to have a spa specifically for PwP's. I sent her this link. If anyone knows anything about this or has been through the program, please give us your thoughts.

I haven’t been there but have seen very positive reviews. It’s run by a PWP and is surprisingly affordable. No ground breaking therapies practiced. Though. Should put him in touch with Dr Costantini.

I heard of this place last week on this forum, researched it, and have booked my husband in for the week long program this Sept. They encourage partner participation too. It sounds wonderful to us, we will be coming from New Zealand and are incorporating it into a holiday in Italy afterwards. They are very nice to deal with, the price is very reasonable 610 Euro for the week, starting Sun evening to the following Saturday. They have booked us into a nice hotel, all meals (3 a day) included for 287 Euro pp. Should be more places like this in the world, all we get in NZ is 'here you go take your pills and see you in a year'. My husband is 47, has just weaned himself of pramipexole, he now takes thiamine 2g/day, mucuna and ashwagandha, we also follow a low carb - high fat diet and exercise as much as we can. Their website is informative, the area is beautiful and hey its Italy, mama mia!

I didn’t read it but it sounds like a vacation with others who struggle too. It might even be fun. I haven’t tried support groups but it sounds like a week long camp that’s stress free, relaxing, just trying to heal in a beautiful setting . Even if you left just a little better than you arrived it would be worth it I think. It could also be that I’m cooped up with a house full of kids and it’s been so cold that a trip just about anywhere sounds good to me right now!😃

Well then, give it or something like to try. I admire PWP who are willing to fly overseas. I could never do it. While you're over there you could make a side trip and see Dr. C.

Would love to see Europe but with 3 in college it’s not possible , plus it’s a bit too far sadly😔

3 in college. Whew! That must cost an arm and leg. Even state schools are expensive nowadays $12,000 per in Minnesota.

It is astonishing how expensive college is. My kids all start working part time at 16, they save to buy their own cars and pay for insurance. They commute to the state University which is close by and the oldest 2 work at Wegmans which is an amazing grocery store chain that started in Rochester, N.Y. and has chains along the east coast. One thing that’s great is Wegmans offers scholarships each year that have helped them pay for their tuition too. Thankfully they have very little in loans so far. They all wish they could dorm but that would add at least $10,000 each year and with one income we can’t afford it. Even though I wish we could help them more we hope by staying home at least they won’t be in much debt. My husband knows people he works with in their 40’s still paying $1000 a month for student loans, that’s almost a mortgage payment. One graduates this year, but another begins in September. My oldest daughter became engaged this past Christmas, we hope they wait a little since we need to save up for a wedding!! $$$😬

Sounds like a nice spa vacation focused on alleviating PD issues. Since Gio lives in Italy I wonder if he knows of anybody who had treatment in that place. Hope he will comment on it.

Ciao faridaro,

Boario ancient Roman baths, here a different point of view:

astrotourism.com/en/village...

flickr.com/photos/astronomi...

It is very nice location but I've never been in this center in question.

As you know I'm a fan of dr C ,that has nothing to do with this center, and I want to say only that when I leave one of his visits in Viterbo I am aware of one thing:

that I will not get worse!

This makes a big difference with anything else for only nearly 120€ for one hour visit + travel expense to Viterbo near Rome.

This is my experience.

However, here in Boario are money well spent, I think, as you can see from the reviews of Bazillon or even Fed1000 and soon there goes also Lucal.

Does life stress you?

I'm sorry it's like that even without PD and frankly I like it that way, and try make it a beautiful and interesting life as a work of art is my purpose.

all you need is a little bit of space, a bit of action and a lot of love towards people, for this you are always welcome in Italy.

I visited it last week. No magic formula, they just teach you how to face your condition at the best level you can do. They spread the importance of 4 pillars in treatment (medical, physical, life style, psychological).

Lot of passion, beautyful place, excellent food... very usefull

Great. Glad to hear it was so valuable for you.

No Magic wands, but built on research evidence and created together with many many big names, formulated into the four pillars course. Parkinson UK thought it was so unique that together with the centre they created the First steps program, now being rolled out nationally. EPDA thought it unique and invited the centre to talk at their European conference. Families are part of the program if they want to be. 20% physical improvement in 5 days, working in 42 countries, working with many Universities, and with the aim of not just providing the latest therapy but also to teach PWP's to LIVE with Parkinsons. and maintain quality of life. Given the waiting lists throughout summer, people who have been do appear to leave changed and tell others. Do not listen to me though, I have 11 years Parkinson's and volunteer at the the centre. You might try reading their book (done together with some members of the BBC) or do see this conclusion. terapiaparkinson.it/en/park...

PS... Yes I do know Dr C !

Hi,

If you are who I think you are, Respect, and Thank You! I spent a week at the Centreb last year and continue to draw inspiration and motivation from what I learned from you all.

I have paid more to see a consultant for an hour than this for a whole week.
