Not sure of cause but I recently *=(like in the last week) noticed my balance is significantly worse. Two potential causes might be 1. started B1 protocol on the 5th of this month or 2. started using Requip a month ago (possible 3. I have been lax in consuming alot of water, don't 'seem to have the"thirst" for it anymore). Anyone have similar response to Requip or B1 (or not enough water consumption)?
balance worsening: Not sure of cause but I... - Cure Parkinson's
balance worsening
I am not on B1. but my loss of balance is my biggest problem,I think it is another unavoidable phase of Parkinsons.
Hi Moonsake. Loss of balance is a common symptom of Pd. The medications could have had an effect but that would have to happen every time, in y opinion.
There is something you can do about your balance problem. If you start doing fast walking, you will strengthen your muscles, which will make them more capable of keeping you upright. As you progress with the walking, you will become fitter and stronger. It costs nothing to do and it an only do you GOOD. It has no bad side effects.
The wrong dose of B-1 can worsen balance.

B1 and hyperbaric oxygen treatments improved my balance.
It is worth understanding the details of why your balance is worsening. Yes I know Parkinson's causes balance impairment but there is more than one way that can happen. For example, orthostatic hypotension can cause lightheadedness which may feel like loss of balance. On the other hand, motor impairment can cause the affected leg to become unreliable and thereby threaten maintaining balance. Alternatively, your sense of balance may have become impaired.
High-dose thiamine has relieved much of my motor impairment and mitigated that threat to maintaining balance. Also, an exercise program helps a lot, as vigorous as you are able to handle.
