tjpoppop,

If you have naturally oily hair, it is easy for bacteria to grow and flourish which can cause an odor. You can shampoo more often. You can also wash your hair with a saturated solution of borax which will help to control bacterial growth and is also antifungal which can also be a cause of odor and itch. I always add a very small amount of regular shampoo to the borax solution to give it a little fragrance and lather as borax saturated solution makes no lather on its own.

Your ears can also be a cause of odor, but it would be helpful if your wife would say exactly where the odor is coming from on your head.

Art, can you tell us more on how the ears could be involved? Thanks.

The ears can be a good place for bacterial overgrowth and as such can be a breeding ground for odor causing bacteria or they can have an infection that can be odor causing. A quick sniff by another person can quickly tell if this is the origination of the malodor.

You could also try a diluted vinegar rinse after the shampoo.

my wife says the same thing, but it's kind of the back of my neck area. She says a musky smell. She has a super-sensitive sense of smell.

Yes my husband had the same thing coming from the top & back of his head; it also left a greasy mark on the headboard but now it seems to have disappeared. I don't know why. He now uses Nizoral shampoo & takes Borax internally plus many other supplements & I've regularly been massaging anti viral, anti fungal & anti bacterial essential oils into his skin so I don't know which of these remedies is the one that's stopped the smell.

Hi Gerry,

Just wondering how long your husband has been taking borax and if he has noticed anything from it yet? Also, does he take zinc?

Hi Art, yes he takes zinc which is within the Emergen-C but it's only 2mg. He sometimes takes another supplement with 25mg of zinc as well but he doesn't like taking all these capsules & tablets, that's why the essential oils & magnesium salt baths are good.

He's been taking 1/8 of a teaspoon of Borax about 4 or 5 times a week since the end of July but I don't think he's noticed any difference yet (but he's not in-tune with his body!)

I have some hyaluronic acid tabs on order but in the meantime he's going into hospital next week for the spinal injections so we're hoping for some improvement in his back pain after that 😊

Gerry,

Please keep us posted on how he does on the injections.

Seborrheaic Dermatitis is common with Parkinson’s. It is easily controlled with any dandruff shampoo, (Head and Shoulders works fine). Use two days , then once a week.

My husband has an odd smell as well. I thought it was from the meds.

Spray a good perfume on his hair.

Yes, my husband has the smell too. Musty, greasy and his pillows stink. But also an acidic smell. I wondered if the HCl from the thiamine causes the acid to come out his pores?
