Gait changes

The last time I saw my neurologist, she did EMG and nerve tests and said I had only about 50% of the muscle strength needed to be able to lift my feet up. She said it was due to peripheral neuropathy. This is a Parkinson’s symptom, right? Does/can PD cause peripheral neuropathy?

I have so many questions to ask my MDS neurologist on Friday!

Yes. Also, muscle wasting, more prominent in some than others, is a PD symptom.

My neurologist refers to my Periphial Neuropathy as a separate problem from my PD ,this annoys me because I really think they are closely related to the one illness. I would like to hear more opinions from PN sufferers.

My Sinemet tablets do not help me at all with my problems of dead legs.

My neurologist says the same thing but I also disagree. I think it’s all connected.

Ditto. Both my Primary Care and Neurologist tell me my neuropathy is not PD related.

thank you for your input, do you have any separate treatment for your neuropathy ?.

I’m not aware that there is any treatment for neuropathy, Ramondo.

I think you are right , I have never been offered any treatment for neuropathy, certainly no advice from my neuro.

Do you agree with them, Don? just curious. In this case, I think they’re wrong!

I do agree with them. Since I don't have diabetes, the Drs don't have any advice for treatment.

I am trying my own expirement, I am going through the feet retraining process with the arch supports that I purchased from the Good Feet Store.

Has anyone had experience with them?

I am in the retraining process. So far, my Chiropractor is on board as she is checking my back alignment weekly. I will keep you posted.

Neuropathy is a fairly common complication of Diabetes.

Watch the amount of B6 intake. High dose B6 can also cause neuropathy.

Thanks Kia. My neurologist does lab work fairly often and checks my B vitamin levels, although I’m not sure if it’s B6.
