Yes you can

Gabapentin will help or completely relieve it. I take 1 300 mg 2 times a day and it does the trick.

I take 10 300 mg gabapentin daily and 2 metnix also + fentanyl patch and 10-325 oxycodone with nearly no relief .

Do you take B6 vitamin? Too much B6 can also cause peripheral neuropathy.

How much is too much?

I think over 10mg a day as supplement. Taking into account that we also consume B6 with our daily diet as well.

you can go for homeopathy and acupuncture if you believe the efficacy of alternative medicine .

Do you have tremors? I use gabapentin for pain, but only occasionally when I can't bare it because it's habit forming. It works very well.

You could try benefotiamine which is a fat-soluble B1

Also, a far infrared Jade heating pad would help. You can look one up on eBay or Amazon. Hope you can get some relief.

This is quite interesting. Not sure if it will be helpful for you.

Pain can be a sign nerves are healing . Are you taking any supplements and were you numb before?

“Nerves love blood and oxygen. Cardiovascular exercise is the best way to promote blood flow and oxygen to your nervous system. A brisk ten-minute walk can improve blood flow throughout your body and help decrease nerve pain especially as the day progresses.

Negative emotions and social situations can also play a role. It is essential to keep your mindset positive as you work through the treatment of your nerve pain. Relaxation, visualization and changing the emotional and social context of the pain can help create a calm, peaceful state in the brain and therefore body. When dealing with emotional and social triggers to your pain, try to practice deep breathing and positive thinking.”

Have you investigated other, non-PD causes - e.g. cervical radiculopathy? Degenerative spine disease is common (I understand) for 60's plus. 'Though many-if-not-most of those showing signs on a MRI will have symptomatic pain. It's worth checking out - there are solutions for this.

I agree about Gabapentin. I took 900mg when I got up and within an hour the pain had moved from 7 to 3 or 4. I have just started Lyrica instead. The pain relief is about the same but last night I had my best nights sleep for many months.

I was on Lyrica in the beginning and now it does nothing for me , I have become immune to nearly all pain meds after so many years of pain management , I hats peeing In bottles but they do that to make sure im not on illegal meds or overdoing them .

My husband went to an acupuncturist & it seemed to help. He also told us to buy A TENS machine. I put the pads on his leg & it helped. Good luck. My husband said it was AWFUL!!!!!

Sorry...

I meant to say, "Degenerative spine disease is common (I understand) for 60's plus. 'Though many-if-not-most of those showing signs on a MRI will have NO symptomatic pain.

I have a friend I have known since high school who had a stroke about 12 to 13 years ago. She has recovered most of the use of her left side, but is in pain 24/7. She says with this pain, just a breeze against her skin on the left side of her body can push the pain level up instantly. She tells me that her doctor put her on ibuprofen for the pain and if she took the maximum dose it barely took the edge off of the pain, so she continued using it because that was the only relief she had ever gotten. The doctor ended up taking her off of ibuprofen because he said it was causing her kidney damage. He then gave her two drugs that are used for depression as he said they sometimes help with nerve pain, but neither drug helped relieve her pain and then he told her there was nothing else he could offer her for long term use as she would need. I made her a batch of magnesium oil to try because mag oil can help some people with nerve pain and she said for her it was like a miracle because it gave her tremendous pain relief.

Mag oil is fairly benign and might be worth asking your doctor about because for less than $20, you can test it with your doctor's approval. If it works or even helps a little, great! If it doesn't, you're out less than 20 bucks. Five to ten applications should be enough of a test to find out if it can help you or not. Here is an 8 ounce spray bottle for under $10.
