Caffeine pills

Hi All,

My 54 year old husband has had PD for approx. 8 years. A nightmare for the most part. He suffered with such a debilitating sleep disorder that he almost lost his part job. Our family life was semi destroyed from his inability to function. He had brain fog much of the time and slept for hours at a time during the day. A neuro shrink put him on Concerta to wake him up which made him agitated and aggressive, further threatening our ability to function as a family unit. Recently a neuro put him on caffeine pills. He has been amazing for three days now. He hasn't slept during the day, he is able to focus, get his job done and is generally in good spirits. I feel like he is back in our life again. Sadly his stiffness is getting much worse. I feel like we could have had a few more good years with our young daughter if docs would have experimented with him a little in the beginning. In Canada the year long waits for neuros and six month check ups do nothing for younger patients who are struggling to maintain jobs and parenting responsibilities.

Oh, regular coffee is not enough apparently...

For those who suffer with day time sleepiness, give it a try.

Good to know of this result. Your story underlines the fact that if the neuro's prescription is not working we need to be pro-active in solving our problems.

Caffeine pills in Canada are available in your local drug store. I'm not sure where you live?

Oddly, he used to be a coffee drinker, before getting Parkinsons, now he doesn't care for it much...Pills are much more intense apparently. Haven't tried Espresso, might if pills get him too agitated.
