UK pip experience.

Been diagnosed a couple of years, with fairly moderate symptoms.

I decided to apply for pip last Dec, quite a lengthy process of mainly waiting rather than doing - I completed a form in Dec and had an assessment recently. I was awarded standard rate on both criteria, which equates to around £330 per month, a useful sum which is fixed for five years and not means tested.

So I still get it paid if I return to work.

I found it all quite painless and would encourage pwp who live in the UK to claim this useful support.

Thanks Seamus. Good to know. I must admit I'd abandoned the idea of PIP as I thought that one had to be virtually dead in Tory Britain to get any help from the state. The questions seem to lean towards the ridiculous in terms of the severity one needs to display to be awarded anything. 'Can you cook a meal? Can you walk 20 metres' sort of rubbish. So whilst I'm getting pretty slow these days and will soon have to finish work YES I can cook a bloody meal and YES I can walk 20 metres!

But thanks for the post and I'll get going. BTW: have you seen the film I Daniel Blake? If you haven't it revolves about a decent working man who has medical issues trying to claim PIP but thwarted by the system. Very moving and I'd recommend it (came out about 2 years ago).

Best wishes.

Many congrats for getting the higher rate pip , you must be more than moderately affected, they were quite severe with me, I think Jeeves assessment of it is closer. or was I being too honest.

To clarify, I got the standard, or 'lower' rate. Just my experience!

Hi Jeeves, thanks for the reply, not seen that film but will check it out!

I was accessed at the highest rate. Daughter did most of the talking as my voice is low.

If you want a short(er) interview just reply "Sometimes" to most questions and bring a rather boisterous 3 yr old grandson.
